UMass Lowell 2014-2015 Season: The March to March

Re: UMass Lowell 2014-2015 Season: The March to March

Tough game to watch honestly. We had so many horrendous giveaways, including in our own zone. Boyle played a heck of a game though, and he deserves a ton of credit for rebounding from last game (no pun intended).

Expectations evolve. I went into this weekend hoping for a split. Now, I want at least 3 points.
A big two points with seven freshmen in the lineup. Obviously there's still a lot to work on. I hope to see more offense tonight and better puck security. Only 16 shots and 0-6 on the PP last night.

Re: UMass Lowell 2014-2015 Season: The March to March

Start the night with a bobblehead, end the weekend with 4 points. That would be alright with me.

Re: UMass Lowell 2014-2015 Season: The March to March

Lowell came out with their hair on Fire. Tough turnover by Suter led to a pretty goal for UNH. Aside from that a great period from the River Hawks.

Re: UMass Lowell 2014-2015 Season: The March to March

Anybody told me however many moons ago that we'd beat UNH in 3 straight to the tune of a 13-2 goal advantage... never mind one of those for a league title.

edit: 14-2, my apologies for doubting... HELLO MR SNOWMAN!

Re: UMass Lowell 2014-2015 Season: The March to March

Wow. UNH is void of defense. Way to go Lowell. Not sure that qualifies as a beatdown, but a nice confidence building g weekend. Things still to work on and a pretty good place to be.

Re: UMass Lowell 2014-2015 Season: The March to March

I don't get it

To me most of the content coming out of the athletic dept (weekend previews, highlights, etc.) has been lacking. In an 8-2 game it would have been nice to see the goals more than once [possibly in order?, multiple angles, I don't know...]. Maybe that's just me though

I liked how they used to do the highlights and dub the radio call over the plays. It'd be even better if they combined the interviews like they do this with the goal calls in the past.

6 straight wins over UNH is their longest streak against the Wildcats ever.

5-1-1 is the best start to a season since 1995-96. That team started 6-1-2.

Bob's voice was toast tonight, but I agree with you in principal.

If I was an opposing team watching gambardella he would absolutely annoy me. My God does he create a lot of turn overs on opposing teams. Lowell is a huge thorn in an opposing teams side when he is out there pressuring on the forecheck.

Hands down - my fav player on this roster.

Also did Chapie get an invite to a professional development camp? If not, I assume he gets one this year - his is on another level this year

Re: UMass Lowell 2014-2015 Season: The March to March

I consider it a beat down.

No doubt. It was embarrassing. Other than glimmers of hope after their first goal (dashed 34 seconds later) and 90 seconds of 5-3 (fail) UNH was never in the game. Even in warm ups they looked lazy and uninspired. Umile is just awful. Barely a word out of the guy to his players all night then when they predictably took dumb penalties out of frustration in the 3rd period he woke up and bawled at the officials.

Anyone notice the little bird fluttering around and crawling in the netting of the UNH goal before the game? I told my daughter it was a good omen and that UML was gonna score 8 goals, I kid you not.

I saw the bird last night and it looked like it wanted to build a nest in the net. It was in the building last weekend too.

Boy did the Hawks take it to UNH in that first period. Aggressive offense with nice passing and puck movement. So much for boring hockey. Huge kill on the 5-3 in the 2nd period to prevent UNH from getting back into the game. A nice night for Chris Maniccia and a great team effort. Still a long way to go and things to work on.
