UMaine Offseason...Belly Up to the Barr Boys

Maine has a good chance to be very good in a few years with some continued good recruiting. Barr seems like the guy for the job here but if he continues to build the program in the right direction he will need to be paid more.

The renovations this summer will help bring in recruits as well. New locker room, new scoreboards and sound system. And most of all recruits want to play in front of a nice crowd. This season it was a great crowd all year. Things are starting to look up if you ask me
 
IDK, but it already appears to me that Barr has improved the recruiting and the work-ethic.

If the N brothers add to the offense, Maine should be a bit better next season, but Barr needs an elite goalie, if he can find one.

Yep 30 years ago. Time flies . What a team that was, glad I had center ice seats to take it all in. The only blemish was BU. Wasnt that Pandolfo who scored on the two on one?
 
I liked the Saturday night game better, it showed how good that Maine team really was. There was a brother and sister at the Saturday game standing near me. Brother brought a sign that had Maines record on it with the 0 in loss column crossed out and 1 written in. That didn’t draw much attention. : ) At least until Maine was way ahead and someone decided to take the sign away from the brat. Fun season. Didn’t Prendergast kill us in Boston at HE tourney the year before. Nothing in sports for me will ever be as good as Maine hockey was when Walsh and Jackie were around.
 
Interesting pick ups. But Atlantic Hockey is a very different conference than Hockey East. We'll see. Hopefully they add something. It's going to be crowded in the locker room.

Look like 2 solid pickups. Always kind of rolling the dice on Atlantic Hockey transfers but Niemo lit up the NAHL for 2 years prior to leading Bentley in scoring so he’s done it at multiple levels.

I saw Harrison Scott in the portal and he is the guy who lit us up back in October. I try not to remember that game too much but if my memory serves me correctly he was a very good skater.
 
Niemo is a top notch player, so many people get wrapped up in the big numbers the AJ or SJ kids put up however they are playing basically in a U18 league. And fans also get wrapped up saying they need USHL/BCHL players, players like Niemo are as good better coming out of the NAHL. Give him top 6 and top PP minutes and he is as good as all other players. Great pick up.
 
I’m not a huge fan of transfers but we’ll see if Maine can catch lightning in a bottle with one of them. I take this as a sign Barr isn’t happy with the bottom six from last year and is working to upgrade it, as he should.

I'm sort of in the same boat with this..already a crowded roster, but Barr knows what he is doing. I'm hoping they can poach a leadership type guy or someone that is more seasoned from the portal still to fill Siorta's role unless they are going to let Poisson do it. I don't think there is any 5th year guys besides Poisson left.
