The one possible exception is if Maine sweeps the Boston schools to win Hockey East and Denver + Michigan State lose, will that be enough to flip the comparison and sneak Maine into the final 1 seed? We won't know for sure until we know who Denver faces in the LTHC semifinal.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but if Maine wants to stay in the east this would be bad news, right? I would expect that if they become the fourth #1, they are almost certainly destined for Missouri, right? Even if they beat both the Terriers and Eagles on the way to a HEA title, they aren't going to pass either of them in the PWR, and the NCAA will (justifiably) not protect the #4 seed ahead of the #1 or #2 seed in terms of keeping them close to home.

This is correct. An example of why winning doesn't always benefit you in the Pairwise.

Thanks for confirming. If Maine does land as a #2 seed (which the CHN probability has at about 96%), what are the odds they stay in the east? Do you think if they finish as the #5 or #6 overall seed they could get shipped west anyway to preserve the serpentine placing of the bracket, or would attendance override that?

Just got this in my email:

I think having four BTHC teams in the 2/3 band will destroy any chance of a perfect serpentine bracket, so the committee will be free to maximize attendance. You have the added threat of four LTHC teams in the 1/4 band (one of whom is a host).

With Providence eliminated from contention as a 3 seed (could still conceivably back in as a 4) there is no conflict that could force a #2 seed Maine team west.

I just got that email as well. My mind will be much more at ease when they deliver my tickets. I managed to grab the last four in the Deck. Always a good time!

His endless fixation on one of our coaches weight was, I dont know, a**inine.
.
I don’t understand that either. If you watch him on the bench it’s obvious the guys like him. He said something to Boija last night as he was leaving the ice and Boija was waiting for the third star announcement. Boija burst out laughing, huge smile on his face.

I don't think it has anything to do with his relationship with the players or his ability to coach. He does appear to have an unhealthy life style and looks like a "walking heart attack".

Out of curiousity, what does that list look like then?
I don’t actually have a list, but here a few that come to mind: UNH hockey losses - 1999, 2003 NCAA finals, the 7 - 2 loss to Maine, the RIT NCAA loss. 1967 World Series game seven. 1975 World Series game seven. 1986 World Series game six. Bucky Fucking Dent. 1988 NBA Eastern Conference finals game six - only minor damage when the battery cover came off and the batteries popped out as the remote hit the television screen. 1976 AFC Divisional playoff game Patriots vs. Raiders. 2006 AFC Divisional playoff game Patriots vs. Broncos. The Malcolm Butler Super Bowl. The absolute worst was the Jets beating my beloved Colts in Super Bowl III. I cried.

At the casino yesterday I broke even playing Blackjack, stood up and was immediately replaced by a guy wearing one of those red hats. I watched with satisfaction as he lost $1000 in 15 minutes.

Wish you would have posted a video. Would have been a fun watch.

Damn, you're as old as me, if you remember THAT!

My Dad was from Maine. For whatever reason, he loved Johnny Unitas, and that made me a Baltimore fan.

I was a kid when Broadway Joe won that one. It still hurts to remember Orr all alone in the end zone during the opening drive.

I'll get over it someday, or not.

We're ALL terminal.

Might as well live as you want to. Father Time is undefeated.
