No weed in NH? What happened to live free or die?

Easy Wally, we don't need to trigger them already lol

Beating the dead horse some more, that's what makes NCAA basketball awesome..1 and done. Tons of times a team that has no business winning does, it's the beauty of the fact you can have a bad game and not get another chance..I think Lowell is going to be ready for this one even though they have looked like crap lately..although I'm still picking the furry Wild E Cats from our border companion

Chuck Murray I think that even though UNH waxed Lowell that is the brilliance of one game playoffs. For example, Maine Beat Vermont last year 3-1 and 5-1 at the Gutt and we all thought they would steamroll Vermont in the 6 vs 11 matchup at Alfond..and we lost. Vermont was 11-20, and had gone 1-4 in their last 5 games and was primed for a whipping and STILL won last year..oh their only win was at UNH lol..

With that said Maine will be motivated. I imagine they want UNH. That series at the Whitt ****ed them off and the arena will be full..would be a hell of a game but let's get there first

Yes, we made sure UVM had some HE points last season...this is what scares me about UML. As for the Maine game up there, if we don't blow it Wednesday that is...
should be a doozy. But gee you guys, since you are already going to the big tourney think you could just give us a break? ha!

May the best team win...

In addition to the coach, I would also add that the reputation of the school is a big factor in attracting talent. Both BC and BU being private schools are held in very high regard academically.

One of my best buds -a doctor- said that BU was his safety school. Howard Stern (an alum) said that BU was the only school that accepted him.

Take that for what's it's worth, of course. Maine isn't exactly on the same footing as, say, MIT, either.

Groovy, do you really think that a conference tournament should negate the results of a long and grueling RS?

Wisconsin losing drops the Badgers to a 3 seed, moving Maine and Quinnipiac up a spot. The Maine-Michigan game moves to Springfield and the Bobcats-Badgers go to Providence.

Looking ahead, the loser of the Providence-UMass QF will not be eliminated. It will be difficult to get in, but both Western and Omaha will be underdogs in their respective QF series and could fall even further. A benefit of the single elimination format of Hockey East.

I really don't especially in the 1 and done format so much luck can be involved. I prefer the best of 3 format but I get why they went away from it

Wisconsin losing tonight puts Maine in 2 seed area

I've already said on the UNH thread that if UNH finds a way to lose to Lowell on Wednesday night, they should fire (technically non-renew) MS7 at center ice 30 seconds after the end of the handshake line, to at least give him a little bit of time to beg NB for an assistant's gig next season.

The Lowell kids won't need much prompting to quit. UNH knows the prize if (when) they win. If you guys want to extend the UVM comparison from last season to UNH this season ... who was behind Door #3 if UMaine beat UVM??

This week gives MS7 a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to do a reset of the UMaine-UNH rivalry - not to mention save his D-1 career at his alma mater, etc. Say what you will about the trip to Boston that awaits the winner, but at least UMaine knows there is life after Boston. Neither UNH nor MS7 have that cushion. That could well create desperation.

These are easy pre-game pep talks to give for both Barr and Souza. But only one of them gets to say "no tomorrow" ...

Looks like a small mobile offensive defensemen, good puck carrier, fast skating. Was promoted from NAHL to USHL this season and has stuck.

Another small Dman?, not sure I like that but its what Barr likes I guess? He may be the best thing since sliced bread for all I know but I see size being an issue in a lot of the losses Maine took this year including UHN.

White out the Whitt wasn't good enough for a reset?

Peterson is not coming in next year it seems. He is for either fall of 25 or fall of 26.

The only D man listed for next season appears to be Morse, who is 6’1” 180 lbs. That is a typical size for D men I think.

There appears to be a trend in general favoring puck carrying, mobile defensemen. There also appears to be a trend of quick, fast, agile skating forwards. So Barr’s squad appears to favor skating, up tempo, and mobile. I think this is great, much better style than the slow Red teams we suffered through.

Agree 100% that its more more fun to watch. I don't want slow either. I want speed and physical enough to keep the puck. So far it looks like his recruiting style is working.

Don't think Souza gets fired after this season,no matter if they get upset by UML...would not be surprised if he gets extended after the college hockey season...

The regular season should count for something imo...they[Hockey East] have caved to what has happen to all conferences...but it should be 1-8 make playoffs...and best of three....makes for playing to finish 1-4...a true value to regular season games...this won't happen...just like the gimmicks...3x3 and shoot-outs....
