One thing that needs to be addressed is this fallacy that winning will help you stay in your region. The only teams that are helped by winning are the potential hosts. BU is going to be the overall #2 seed; North Dakota the #3 overall seed. Both are in danger of being shipped out of their region because of hosts. Further, Maine could go on a run where they defeat UHN, BU and BC to win the Hockey East title and secure a #1 regional seed and still get shipped to Missouri because the Black Bears are not going to pass either the Eagles or Terriers. On the other hand, Maine could lose to UHN and back into the tournament as a 3 seed in Springfield or Providence because that makes the most sense in the pairwise. So while teams, coaches, media and fans will all say winning helps a team stay in their home regional, that's garbage. All the committee care about is what band you are in and making sure to avoid intra-conference matchups. Sure, attendance would be nice, but the NCAA already has its money - a lack of fans is the host's problem. Even in the case where attendance is a complete embarrassment the NCAA doesn't care.
All games have now gone final. I have Maine as the #2 seed in Providence playing Michigan with Boston College and the 16th ranked qualifier. Springfield is BU-Western and Wisconsin-Qpac. UMass has fallen to 15th which is below the cutline. Providence is just above the cutline. The nightmare scenario is averted for now as Omaha has moved all the way to a 3 seed. If the Mavericks finish as a 4 seed and UND and DU both are #1's it is a disaster for both Sioux Falls and Springfield.
