Re: UMaine - 2011-2012 Season Thread (cont) - Beating Back the Internuts ?

I seem to recall (last spring or summer), the Chargers were having a difficult time finding conference teams who were willing to play them. Maine and a few other teams stepped up and acheduled games with them. Here's hoping the program will be successful in the future and that they will be able to join a conference.

I believe that to play unh at Fenway Tim had to revamp the schedule. That meant that Nebraska Omaha wouldn’t fit into our schedule or theirs so UAH was added.

Maine will only be as relevant as Sullivan is good the rest of the way.....if he starts to slump, look out below. Right now, Sullys the key to everything thats happened in a good way. If he loses his confidence, I'd be real concerned.

Not sure how much stock we should put into it, but I remember Whitehead in his USCHO Live interview saying that Ouellette was pushing Sullivan in practice, so hopefully that's motivating him to the level we've been seeing. I bet Marty goes Friday as Sullivan has started every game since early-November.

Also, Ben Bishop impressed last night in the AHL All-Star Game. Stopped 10/11 shots in the 3rd and all four in the shootout to get the W and was named the ASG MVP. Bravo! Now if only Brian Elliott would turn back into Brian Elliott...

Agreed. We all said the single biggest reason for losing in recent years was goaltending. We finally are getting some. The secondary reason for this roll has been secondary scoring. This said, I want to hear everyone's prediction on our final record, how we do in the HE playoffs, and if we make the tourney. I say we finish 20-10-4, make it to Boston but lose in the semi-final. I think we make the NCAA'a as a 3rd seed.

Obviously, Maine needs to take care of business this weekend then win one of the two next weekend, sweep Amherst in Orono, take one of two at NU and beat UNH in Orono. 7-3 the rest of the way.

6-2-1 down the stretch sounds good to me. If the defense isn't making bonehead plays in their own zone and the goaltending continues to hold this team can win Hockey East, but I still think we get there and lose. I'm more concerned with how far they can get in the NCAA's. Maybe we get put in a cake-walk regional like 2007...

6-2-1 down the stretch... losses to Lowell, one to NU, and then I think Providence may get a tie or Umass may steal a tie...

We get fourth in HE, beating out Lowell by about one point, though I think we could tie them and lose the tiebreaker...

NCAA...hopefully at least in there, but Im not willing to predict any NCAA stuff in fear of jinxing this.

5-2-2 the last 9 games=19-10-5...5th place Hockey East...knocked out in QF's...No NCAA Bid.

0-9 the rest of the way......sweep BU in the HE quarters at Aggneous, walk thru HE playoffs, take out UMD out west in NCAA quarters, and win our third NC 8-1

I like it when the bozos stop trashing our coach.
We are lucky to have an icredible coach and a great team.

I will make a bold pick and say hockey collapses, falls in the HE quarters, and misses out on the NCAAs, while basketball runs the table the rest of the way and makes a March Madness bid. Oh yeah, and Timmy is fired.

say what the teleprompter tells him to say

my prediction:5th in HE, loss in the first round at MC,
but I was the one who said that Maine would never see .500 again after November.

ask Drew, he seems to have his finger on the pulse
