UM @ SCSU: Everything this series should be

Re: UM @ SCSU: Everything this series should be

Gophers looked great. I am not gonna play the 'our team played like crap' card. Gophers just took it to em. Huskies need at least one point tomorrow night. Need to shoot more from outside. Too much passing close to the net.

I thought your big name players were way too unselfish. I thought they needed to shoot more and go for rebounds. Heck, it looked like watching the Gophers in some ways - always looking for the perfect play. I was glad to see the Gophers going to the paint early and often tonight.

Re: UM @ SCSU: Everything this series should be

1st no goal: good.
2nd no goal: utter horsesh*.

MN got the deserved 2 points tonight.

Jan certainly has some play makers and talent, but honestly you had no chance with Twocox in net :P

Story of the year. Always seems to be 1 too many passes.

Re: UM @ SCSU: Everything this series should be

They never showed the 2nd no goal in the arena but from my vantage point both looked like the correct call in real time.
We've got to rachet it up another notch.
MN buried their great chances and we didn't.
Is that the best team we've played? Yes.
Are they unbeatable. No.

Re: UM @ SCSU: Everything this series should be

In all seriousness, I thought the first waved off goal was a no-brainer and they got it right. Tender's helmet came off before the puck was shot, and the whistle needs to be blown immediately in that situation.
The second waved off goal was a bit stickier. It really was a judgement call. I'm sure it will be debated ad nauseam, but bottom line is that at the end of the day it didn't matter.

For all the talk about how great St. Cloud is defensively, I think that is where MN really outshone the Huskies tonight. Which isn't to say St. Cloud played bad "D", just that MN was really committed to a strong team defense tonight.
St. Cloud didn't look really good except for some periodic 1-2 shift bursts throughout the game. I give a lot of credit to MN for that.

Also, anyone want to retract their statement about Jensen/Schmidt? :p

That is the problem with any team though.... They want to play "pretty hockey" instead of wanting to get their hands dirty and crashing the net. I know numerous times I have been ****ed off by the Gophers for this, and the MN Wild are Key examples of how playing "pretty hockey" is extra ****ty. Shoot the **** puck on net and good things happen.

Genius Brent. :)
I mean I've seen some fans say if MN plays their A game, they shouldn't lose to anyone.
I don't agree with that statement.
The 4x4 play killed us but I disagree with some that we were never in this or couldn't have won it.
Oh Jan could of won it... With the Refs help that is ;)

Thanks to the BS 2nd waved off goal, you were in it until we scored those last two goals. :p

There were some scary moments, for sure, but TWOCOX had some great saves, and COXBLOXED SCSU continuously.

Re: UM @ SCSU: Everything this series should be

First, we don't have UM to our name, so we are not Jan. So shut up! Second, it its Artic Cat jackets. Third, the refs were correct on the 2 waived goal calls. Fourth, I am going to rage hell if you like it or not.

For those that know me be ware

You seem to be fixated on Cox. :p

Nice to hear the Gophers brought it tonight, I was worried that they'd have a difficult time matching the intensity of SCSU...sounds like it may have been the other way around. Really hope they play a complete weekend and maybe leave town with 3-4 points and grab the driver's seat in the MacNaughton race.

No team is unbeatable, because hockey can have so many things change a game or the momentum with one play or bounce. I've seen teams that were top-to-bottom better than their opponent, lose a game where they had a shot edge of something like 62-12, because the goalie played the game of his life. So I don't think anyone has said they are truly unbeatable. All you can talk about is who is the most talented, who is playing the best together and who has momentum. Saying that a team shouldn't lose if they play their A game is just a way of saying they are the best in these categories. It doesn't mean there is no way they ever lose. (Not that I ever made that statement.)
