Re: UAA: Exciting Things Ahead!

One other thing, Governor's Cups are now 11-10 UAF, potentially 11-10 UAA.

Poor basketball and volleyball teams won't be cashing in much as they pretty well "own the nooks" and have for years.
We changed 4 losses and 2 ties for 6 wins out of like 10 games total. I know one of those ties was a complete garbage meaningless game 4 too.

Officially, it turns a 10 game unbeaten streak against UAF into something like a 14 game winning streak! :D

Re: UAA: Exciting Things Ahead!

Mantha is the real deal!
Facing way too many shots every game. Twice what should get through to him.
Mantha only reason it was only 2 and not six or seven.
Whole team needed to change that.
Our upper classmen forwards need to step up and score.
Like to see a Tach in the middle of Azurdia and Kozun line.
We've tried several combinations. Like to see if that combo has some chemistry.
Tomorrows a new day and it'll be a great day to be a Seawolf!

Re: UAA: Exciting Things Ahead!

Matty did a first class job of keeping us in the game.
Whole team kept him facing a reasonable number of shots.
And we took a reasonable number of shots at them.

Sounded like it was a much better effort tonight. We certainly had our chances, with two major penalties called on Tech. I'll be very happy when the forwards start scoring some goals.

Re: UAA: Exciting Things Ahead!

Bears at the Packers on Sunday Night Football 4:00 pm channels 2 and 652 and our team is there live and in person.
What a score!

I'd hate to bee that guy, but if my team just got swept I don't know if I'd take/let them go to a major sports league game. Even if they did play better the second night. I feel like I'd go Herb Brooks on them Olympic style. Nonetheless that is a great opportunity for the boys, hope they soak it all in.

Re: UAA: Exciting Things Ahead!

What the heck happened???????
Played em tight in the first.
Mantha had a bad outing.
Matty not at his best.
A couple of no calls then a horrible call on Van Allen and the flood gates opened.
Can't all be on the refs but they were never in control and made some really bad calls.
Pretty hard to stay in it when the decks stacked against you.

Stop blaming the refs. The game was over before Van Allen's penalty. TWO major penalties tonight. This team is not playing with any discipline right now. Coach better figure it out and quickly.

Well maybe as the first UAA team to have double digit goals scored against them since since January 17, 2001, they'll get a trip to Disneyland...

Or maybe as the first UAA team to lose by at least 8 goals since October 27, 2006, we'll give them a trip to the moon...

The point is, that was pathetic. No discipline, refs or not, we've taken 7 major penalties/misconducts. We're 2nd in the country for penalty minutes (not sure if that was before tonight's game or not) and average over 20 minutes of penalties per game. This team should not be playing like this; what happened to the team from the beginning of the season? It seems as if they've gone progressively downhill since the Kendall Classic with few signs of relief. I don't know what the 'magic' answer is but something needs to be done cause there is no excuse for the way the season has been going since the beginning of October...

Re: UAA: Exciting Things Ahead!

Has anybody else realized that this could be a monumental year for UAA hockey? With fewer than 2500 people going to the Aces games, this should be the best time in the past 15 years for this program to win fans back. That being said...playing like they have the past few weeks won't do anything for attendance but make it drop even more...

You know, I was thinking this exact thing as I went to bed last night. Someone left a comment in the Alaska Dispatch article about the Aces losing streak, saying they should put the team in UAA jerseys, they would do better. It's a perfect opportunity to win back fans, but they won't do it playing like this. That said, I believe this team has enough talent to be competitive. We have a great freshman goalie, take advantage of that!

This team, it appears, needs a Matt Bailey to pick it up and carry it on his back. Who will step up?

Scott Allen needs to lead this team. Mantha is more than a capable goaltender.

On a different, but similar note, 6 majors already? That sounds about right for an entire season of hockey. I can't find it online, but I'd guess UAA is the leader in major penalties the last several seasons. Which hasn't changed from coach to coach. Either we are still the butt hair team in the WCHA, or we recruit dirty players, or .... I give up. I'm probably wrong on the stats, but it just seems like the CFB majors are a big hit(pun intended) with this team, and have been for several years.

Sorry for the rant, but 2 within 1 minute of each other?
