........ any chance we can get a report from the officers (and editors of the newsletter) on what's up with the Friends of Maine Hockey (and the newsletter?)
If you were a member of FOMH you would know.

Tim seriously didnt speak last night? Thats disgusting. And illustrates the utter lack of acciuntability thats plaguing the program. Cant recall Tim ever refusin to speak even after the worst losses. If true shows the wheels are really off
He is circling the wagons, keep everyone on the outside. I never listen to his coaches show but I'll be listening tomorrow(if there is one)

I would know what's up with the FOMH newsletter, but I don't.

I assume that by withholding my support UNTIL Tim is gone, it will help Maine Hockey sooner... so, in my eyes, I AM a Friend of Maine Hockey, while the "FOMH members are prolonging the agony... in a way that does not benefit the program.

I could be wrong.
SO, sandie... what is the news?
AM I gonna be buying my old season tickets again?

As some of you know I'm in the media, so I don't want to sound like I'm on a high horse like speaking to the press matters THAT much. That said, if he wants to control the messge and forbid kids from talking, fine. He has a responsibility to speak. Its bad form, bad example. Even Parker, after the UML debocle, said 5 words, stormed out, returne and apologized and took questions.

Never knew Tim to refuse to speak, and he never barred his players from doing so as far as I know. Typically a goalie and at least one guy with a letter on his sweater talked after every game, win lose or tie.

Taking away that "mistake",you have to say it was refreshing to see him out there...he played like he had been playing for a while and he wants to stay in the lineup...he passed well/finished his checks/had some moxie when UML player bumped into Sully...positioned himself and was just part of the team, not flashy...I know its just one game and there will be bumps in the learning process...but I liked what he brought out last night.

Don't worry, TIMMAY will 'correct' all those problems, and he'll be playing like O'Neill and Hegarty in no time.

Drew, the odd thing is... YOU were the one who predicted that the Ramsay/Bellamy/Ryan capained team was going to suck... how come you see something that none of us see in this team? Back then, they had many players who might possibly have played at other good D1 schools... I do not see more than a couple on the roster who might have been picked up by a team above Providence or Holy Cross

and... any chance we can get a report from the officers (and editors of the newsletter) on what's up with the Friends of Maine Hockey (and the newsletter?)

I think that team only had two good offensive players and from what I observed neither had the greatest attitude in the world. I never fancied Ramsey at all, I think you can count on one hand the number of times in his career he missed the first defender on a shot from the point. Tyler was great, one of if not my favorite players ever but there was only so much he was going to be able to do. Bellamy was good, and also a really hard worker but a player like him can only have so much impact on a team like Maine had that year. I didn't think they had that good of role players either.

I like the group Maine has now, I think a lot of the players are fairly good athletes and have positive attitudes. I don't think its as simple as just recruiting the best players you can nowadays. You need kids who develop as they progress through their four years and I think/hope that's what we'll see with the freshmen and sophomores. Like I said in my earlier post, with what we already have and what we have lined up, if you could add two good all-round defenseman and a coach who could sort the goalies out Maine would be right in the mix at the end of the season (next year, obviously). There's so much parity now that its a very fine line between being a contender and being in seventh or eighth place. Look at this year, there is very little between the third and eighth place teams in hockey east.

Cant possibly be Mrs. Whietehead. She'd be pretty stupid to take a "maine titanic" moniker, dont you think?? :) Unless of course she cant wait to leave. ;)

I have been repeatedly asked to be president... I am not the saint that the current president is.... I will leave it at that.

And yeah, I would know what's up with the FOMH newsletter, but I don't.

You aren't the only one who has been asked to become President of FOMH. Witholding your support from the hockey program has nothing to do with removing Whitehead (psychologically, you may feel like it is), but supporting the organization and what they do for student athletes is their primary focus. If you feel it should be something different, then you should become a member and use your influence to bring about change. It's hard work. Much harder than posting messages on a public forum calling for the removal of a coach.

I don't see how one can support FOMH without being full on board with the staff.

Not true. The Friends of Women's Basketball group was very influential in removing the coach prior to Blodgett. There were other issues besides basketball, but the group had influence.

well, the trustees are set to meet on a myriad of things over the next couple of days, ranging from the pit renovations, to academic programs, to the audited financials... no inside info, but, with any luck, they'll be voting on a buyout of whitehead's contract...

Re: U Maine 2011-2012 Season (thread created when Maine was at .500) Thread

why would Timmy not let the players talk? Is he afraid that they'll say something about him? I don't get it. Fans deserve to hear from the players.
Ef Tim Whitehead. Time for that little prlck to leave town.
