They'll turn him into a sieve by December next year. Which goalie gets the boot this time or is it back to the ever effective 3 goalie rotation?
Playing time? Someone leaves

3 goalies is never effective however I'm all on board for start Seely every game...maybe it will be like dave wilson a couple years back and the defense will realize they have to step up to keep it close and for all we know seely could actually do something...

Big surprise Timmay doesn't take a phone call tonight:D

Bangor Daily News reporting that the hockey team had a players only meeting after the winless weekend. Time will tell if this will have any affect.

Re: U Maine 2011-2012 Season (thread created when Maine was at .500) Thread

Am surprised nothing was mentioned about the bench penalty for too many men on the ice..........and the line changes have been brutal...........players getting caught on the ice after long shifts

How many face offs were won by Maine this weekend? Are players afraid of marking up their sticks..........?

Tim has to play the bench more.............to keep the players in the game.........

Seriously?!! A players only meeting is just that...for players only. Not the press, not the fans, not the coaches, not anybody else. Putting this in the paper is just another sad, desperate attempt by Whitehead to save his job....pathetic. SHUT UP AND JUST PLAY. AND LET THE BOYS PLAY. ENOUGH TALKING!!!!!!!!!

If this was a pro setting, the "players only meeting"would be followed by a"vote of confidence " by the GM or owner. As for Rutt taking a very immature penalty, that may have actually cost them a game, Timmay was quick toswayt that he was definitely in against UMass.....so much for accountability.....liked what I saw from him, but Timmay is always using penalties as a reason why a player sits.....inconsistency in management will kill a company...and a hockey team...

I totally agree with your accountability for mistakes. Mangene's mistake cost them two goals and the lead and the game. Bet he plays again in next game. Inexcusable for a junior to make this kind of mistake and cost the game. He should sit at least two games for this. there can't be two sets of rules. One for upperclassmen and another for soph/freshman.

Also why don't our centers win face-offs any more. Very important piece of the game.

Think back to 5 years ago when you could see there was trouble coming...and now today...well Merrimack is #2 in the Country in the Polls behind Minnesota, while Maine can't even garner a vote...and I know Polls are Polls, but no disrespect to Merrimack either...they have turned there program around and look to be solid, while there's no way you can say with Confidence that Maine will be back as long as TW is at the Helm. Long Season..? it started this weekend and was the recipe when the season began.

Re: U Maine 2011-2012 Season (thread created when Maine was at .500) Thread

Absolutely.

And I would rather go see Merrimack play anyone balls-out this coming weekend than to travel to UMass to see Maine play timidly yet again.

Wake me up when Whitehead has taken the money and gone out to pasture.

we're #33, we're # 33 providence, UM-L, UNH.....UND all ahead and yes it's only a poll......Maine is getting beaten , not by more talented teams evcery week, but by a lack of heart, an ability to close, a sense of passion...yes BC is good, and NoDak has some players...but PC, UM=L...all have a renew sense of "i can, I will"...all we have are talented kids who are always looking oiver their shoulders, to see if the Wizard of the Stillwater is going to bench them....no way to play the game

Re: U Maine 2011-2012 Season (thread created when Maine was at .500) Thread

A lot of inconsistency in your criticisms bear necessity. You want to bench a player for playing with passion and heart and blame him for the loss, despite all of the other mistakes that led to the gwg. (Not to mention the previous 3 goals) Then you are critical for the players looking over their shoulder and not playing with enthusiasm. He made a rookie mistake that was borderline and had the refs not wanted to even things up it wouldn't even have been a penalty. Did you even notice how he played the rest of the game? I'll never criticize a player for taking a hard work penalty that the refs arbitrarily decide is a penalty this time.

I saw a lot of positive things the last game but we seemed to run out of gas and went into a prevent defense that led to numerous lazy feet penalties in the third. Hopefully we can build on that and play hard for 3 periods. We need to be more physical and need to be a tougher team to play against all of the time, everywhere on the ice.

Careful, Mr. Rutt. Pretty sure everyone in the arena except you didn't think his penalty was "arbitrary." Was it a boneheaded freshman mistake similar to ones that virtually every player makes his first year? Yes. Arbitrarily called by the refs? Not a chance. The ref had to call it.

whether your surname is Rutt or not (and I am guessing it is)... I am with you 100%.

That penalty was an "even em up" call, and that call was not made at least 30 times when Ben Blood did the same thing out in Grand Forks a month ago...

it IS discressionary, but jake made it easier to call while the arm was already up, signalling a delayed minor on Lowell

Well if you are killing off multiple penalties with your top line forwards and defense..............will definately have an impact......

I agree but these are things that have been happening for years now, so why is it going to change now? I thought the lineup was much better, I like the play of Rutt, he looked good out there. Mangene made a bigger error if you ask me and so did Timmay with the too many men penalty. Most coaches would take the blame for that penalty, doubt Tim has said diddly about it.

I don't expect to see anything change as long as the head man is still the head man
