Re: TV: The League Of Anarchy Is A Bunch Of Justified Mad Men

The Daily Torygraph is reporting Jeremy Clarkson will be fired by the BBC tomorrow.

Re: TV: The League Of Anarchy Is A Bunch Of Justified Mad Men

And so goeth Top Gear. :(

There's no show without Clarkson. He's one of those guys who I wouldn't want to be anywhere near in real life, but who is perfect in that persona. Like HST, Woody Allen, or Bill Clinton.

I do not have to approve of you in order to enjoy your work.

It's really a shame since Top Gear was so great -- I know and care zero about cars and yet I loved the show. They should have gone for the "tearful admission of substance abuse problems / quick rehab stint / yay everything's magically all better" play, just to save the show.

I love Top Gear, and Clarkson makes me laugh.

But I don't see how one can assult a co-worker and keep their job. Regardless of how important they are. If a CEO hits an underling, the company can be sued for that- and the CEO could be thrown in jail. So how could the most important person in a company get a pass on assult- I don't understand.

It's one thing that Clarkson plays a anti-PC character on TV, it's another when he's a bully at work. One is entertainment, the other isn't.

I guess that Top Gear producer will be the most hated man in England since Blatter or Platini.

How assaulty was the assault?

I would like there to be a way for the victim to get a fat settlement check from Clarkson and another one from the Beeb (unsafe work environment) and then let everybody go on their way.

The Telegraph published the investigation findings:

Specific facts about the assault found by Ken MacQuarrie, who undertook the BBC investigation:

:: On 4 March, studio recording of Top Gear had taken place in Surrey and the presenters had travelled that same evening to the location shoot in North Yorkshire;

:: The incident occurred on a patio area of the Simonstone Hall Hotel, where Oisin Tymon was working on location for Top Gear;

:: The physical attack lasted around 30 seconds and was halted by the intervention of a witness;

:: It is the case that Oisin Tymon offered no retaliation;

:: The verbal abuse was directed at Oisin Tymon on more than one occasion – both during the attack and subsequently inside the hotel – and contained the strongest expletives and threats to sack him. The abuse was at such volume as to be heard in the dining room, and the shouting was audible in a hotel bedroom;

:: Derogatory and abusive language, relating to Oisin Tymon and other members of the Top Gear team, continued to be used by Jeremy Clarkson inside the hotel, in the presence of others, for a sustained period of time;

:: It is clear that Oisin Tymon was shocked and distressed by the incident, and believed that he had lost his job;

:: Following the attack, I understand that Oisin Tymon drove to a nearby A&E department for examination;

:: Over the subsequent days, Jeremy Clarkson made a number of attempts to apologise to Oisin Tymon by way of text, email and in person; and

:: It is the case that Jeremy Clarkson reported the incident to BBC management.

So there was a period of verbal abuse followed by 30 seconds of physical altercation (with a witness to end it) plus more verbal abuse. With no defense.

I don't watch the show, and so really have no interest, but the other link says this all started when the producer informed him a nearby restaurant was no longer serving food. if that's the case, what kind of immature, full of yourself twit do you have to be to go into a tirade over something like that? Grow up.

You've definitely never watched the show. :p

Jeremy Clarkson is a cross between Ted Cruz and Maria Callas. This was entirely in keeping with his character.

Re: TV: The League Of Anarchy Is A Bunch Of Justified Mad Men

When new Top Gear tanks, the Beeb will beg the three of them to come back.

Re: TV: The League Of Anarchy Is A Bunch Of Justified Mad Men

Fire the USA crew for Top Gear and force Clarkson to come here to hose Top Gear USA.

Appropriate punishment?

Just wouldn't work. Putting a star in a reasonably priced --- Chevy Cruze? :rolleyes:

IMHO, what makes the show for we petrol heads on this side of the pond is seeing them thrash all of the Euro vehicles that we can't get over here.

Re: TV: The League Of Anarchy Is A Bunch Of Justified Mad Men

Justified: Ok, did NOT see that coming. And I wish they had intro'd Boon earlier in the show. Creepy, creepy, dude, but VERY interesting. I would've like to see his character fleshed out more with a background and such.
