Re: TV Shows VII: Who gets canceled next?

Spoiler Alert for Sons of Anarchy: I don't like losing Miles. I don't like casually throwing Juice away (I assume... unless he has Otto's longevity). I really hate that Linc Potter is already become a little Stahl-ish. But ****ed if I'm not overjoyed to see this plot line ended so suddenly. There's too many other good thIngs going on for the show to get derailed by such a stupid arc.

Re: TV Shows VII: Who gets canceled next?

Finished Season 3 of BB. Best moments were easily the end of One Minute and Half Measure. I actually LOVED Fly, and I seem to be in the minority on that. What an amazing character episode...only thing I DIDN'T like is the fact that I hate flies, and this episode made my skin crawl a bit, hahaha.

Re: TV Shows VII: Who gets canceled next?

At least on House he had a point (whilst still sucking...until the very end of his run)
I didn't think he "sucked" as Kutner, I think he was perfectly adequate but suffered in contrast because four or five characters on that show during his run were turning in some of the best performances in TV history.

Re: TV Shows VII: Who gets canceled next?

Don't you understand? That's why its funny. If you don't like how the show works then stop watching otherwise quit *****ing about it since it then becomes your fault.

I get why the show is funny...the problem is it really isnt funny anymore. Parts of it are funny, but those parts are becoming less and less every episode and it is easy to tell most of the cast is mailing it in. I mean Ted barely has a point on the show anymore AND HE IS THE MAIN CHARACTER! He is actually completely unlikeable and not in a funny because he is a ****** way, but just because he is annoying. Kal Penn doesnt add anything to the show, he hasnt actually been funny since he was in Van Wilder.

I have invested enough time in the show that it is worth the 22 minutes once a week to see the payoff. (assuming there is one) There is usually enough jokes to make it ok. But just like Scrubs, it has obviously run out of material because they are literally just rehashing old stories (and often what seems like old scripts) just to extend things out.

And last I checked I can come on here and whine about it all I want to. Dont like it...block me otherwise it becomes your fault :D

Kepler,

I can only think of a couple episodes where Kutner was any good...otherwise he could have been replaced by anyone. (his best episode was the bully episode) When Chase came back on the team it worked better I thought.

If I blocked you I'd miss your insight in other threads. In your case I think the definition of insanity can be used.

Now that that is out of the way they don't need to focus on Ted right now. They need to set up the Barney wedding payoff especially since in all likelyhood the bride is Robin and Kal Penn's character is there to set that up. Then you have the baby which there will probably be an episode "rehash" since older Ted told that story to soon so we're gonna get it again. So they can get away with not focusing on Ted for right now.

Re: TV Shows VII: Who gets canceled next?

I know this has been posted, but I just watched all the previous episodes of Revenge and it is awesome. Love it.

Did someone say Pan Am was cancelled? I thought it was OK in a campy sort of way (doesn't have the same charm as Mad Men), although the whole spy storyline is stupid. Although maybe I like it because the guy that plays Ted is Drew from Scrubs 2.0 :)

Not cancelled as far as I know.

Re: TV Shows VII: Who gets canceled next?

No more House team members on HIMYM. Unless, of course, Wesley Snipes decides he wants to quit the show.

The quality of a HIMYM episode is usually based on how linear the plot is, and how many one-off nonsense character traits they have to assign to the characters, and last week definitely failed on both accounts. I like Kal Penn, but the point of his character--other than Harold and Kumar cross-promotion--is supposed to be that he's a good match for Robin, but it fails because he can't gain acceptance into their group. The problem is that his chemistry with Cobie Smulders is so poor that it doesn't seem like it would work regardless.

Ok that is just funny right there :D

I agree on all counts. (minus liking Kal Penn ;) ) I think the episode may have worked better if Kal and Cobie looked like they could stand being in the booth or even in the same room together and I never got that. I mean if the episode was about Robin's boyfriend and how terrible they were together then it would be funny...but we are supposed to believe they like each other and I swear Kal looked almost disgusted putting his arm around Robin in the bar. It just didnt work. The whole thing feels forced and, once again, if that was the point it would be funny...that isnt the point though this is supposed to be believable.

As for Ted, they havent focused on him for most of the last 4 seasons minus his last girlfriend. The show is more about Barney than it is about Ted. One season was Barney chasing Robin, then the next was them dating, then Barney is back to being AWESOME! and now Robin is in love with him while he dates Nora. Barney/Robin is the Ross/Rachel or Sam/Diane of the show...it is truly the reason to watch. The show should be called "How Our Friend Ted Met His Wife" :p

The pyschoanalysis here makes Harley's of the Gophers seem tame. Just watch the friggin shows and enjoy or not.

Re: TV Shows VII: Who gets canceled next?

I thought Pan Am was the worst new show of the year.

I stand corrected. I saw an episode of Ringer.

I loved the fly episode. When I was watching it live, I was wondering what the hell was going on, then about 1/3 of the way into it, I got it. It was a great episode.

I hope the air up there in your Ivory Tower is nice and clear...

I think you know that comment was mostly tongue-in-cheek. I don't begrudge the commentary necessarily, but at times wonder if the shows wouldn't be more enjoyable if they were simply taken at face value. No harm intended.

Re: TV Shows VII: Who gets canceled next?

The show should be called "How Our Friend Ted Met His Wife" :p
The title fits just fine given the fact he is the one telling his kids all these stories that will presumably lead up to the one involving him meeting his wife/their mother (or his first wife/second wife/third wife if their mother is a few wives down the marital line :p).

Of course, he's also the biggest d-bag character of the show by far, but that's neither here nor there.

SS - I think for some of us, part of the enjoyment of these shows is over-analyzing them. :p

I think you know mine was the same way ;)

New South Park: Kinda dumb, except for the Lemmiwinks ghosts (especially the third ditty about the catata fish), and Mr. Macky at the end.

Actually, I thought that was the point when I was watching the episode. You've never been the guy that had an interest in a woman only to then meet her friends, feel uncomfortable, and just force the bf/gf situation for too long only to slowly recognize that it's just not going to work (or, hell, the truth, to slowly give up on the poon)?
