It's not like they're replacing the canceled shows with blockbusters...it's either another reality show, a news show or something that wasn't good enough to get on the schedule in the first place.

Have a little more patience with shows. There once was a show so bad it finished dead last in the ratings - 77th out of 77 shows. NBC gave it a little time to find an audience and it went on to become the #1 show in prime time, ranking in the top 10 for 8 of its 11 seasons on the air and capturing a stunning 117 Emmy nominations. Today, it would be canceled and we'd never have heard of Sam Malone and the gang down at Cheers.
Well, yes, there are always going to be better universes out there...

1. Are there really people who don't like Cheers?

2. At what point will they start calling it How Your Mother and I Got a Divorce Because I Wouldn't Shut Up About All the Chicks I Banged Before Her?

1. Yes. The first season is excellent. After that it's Friends-level terrible.

2. That's every husband.

Re: TV Shows VII: Who gets canceled next?

American Horror Story continues to be a lot of fun -- just throw a ton of disturbing stuff in a blender and wear a bib. The husband has far more patience than I... after fifteen minutes of his wife's incessant whining she ought to already be the latest victim of the house.

Denis O'Hare has a wonderful role (pretty much all nom nom nom'ing the camera) and I can't wait to see his various other incarnations, if the show is going the way I think it is (and if it's given enough time).

Gee, what a surprise. Kepler likes the season that was brutal and hates the actual funny ones. I never would've guessed that one.

Watched Once Upon a Time on hulu...will definitely keep watching it for awhile.

Only Kepler could pick the least funny season of Cheers. Seriously I would sooner take advice from the cast of Jersey Shore than I would Kepler ;)

BTW Weird Al = EPIC!

Re: TV Shows VII: Who gets canceled next?

He also liked the internet better when it was on vinyl.
It had already jumped the shark when it reached vinyl. Now the internet on parchment -- those were the good days.

The first season of Cheers was the "good" one because we were still figuring it out. By the time the cement (concrete?) had set, they were just playing out the string. And after Diane left, the show became just an overlong SNL skit.

Exception: Frasier was a great character for a while, and he was not a member of the cast until the 3rd or 4th year. That gave the show a little bit of life at the end, so however long he and Diane overlapped probably counts as Cheers still being pretty good.

Like MASH and Moonlighting (and Buffy, actually it happens a lot), the memories of the last few painfully bad seasons tend to tarnish the show as a whole.

I haven't even heard of this Once Upon a Time show that people are talking about. What channel, and is that episode replayed any time?
