That's the shame of it. When they completed the first season, the show was on the bubble of coming back, leaning slightly towards being renewed in most people's eyes, so they left it more open-ended and set things up very nicely for a second season. It almost would have been better if they knew that would be it, because they probably could have wrapped up that story quite nicely.

I went out and bought season 3 of Californication yesterday. I was planning on watching a couple episodes a day, but I couldn't stop and ended up watching the entire season last night.
Spoiler: The episode where Hank, Charlie, Hank's student, the other strippers, Hank's TA, the Dean's wife, the Dean and Rick Springfield all end up in Hank's apartment and they find out that Hank is banging the student, TA and Dean's wife at the same time, was hilarious! Also, he completely effed up by not choosing the hot stripper student. Susan Sarandon's daughter has a very nice chest.

I can't believe I missed Friday Night Lights starting back up.
I randomly checked sidereel the other day and saw that there were three episodes already this season. (Season five will be the last)
I've watched the first two so far and have liked it. I think they are pushing the Luke as a bad*** angle a little bit too hard. I can see Vince getting in some trouble down the line with accepting money or "gifts" to help his mom out.
Definitely enjoying it though so far. Pretty sad that this is the last season for one of the most under-appreciated shows on TV.

Agreed. I still don't get why they have completely abandoned the group and classroom aspect. There have been some good episodes this season but there have also been more than a few clunkers IMHO.

I think the last episode showed that the group itself isn't integral to a great episode, however, the group and classroom has to be the predominant driving force in the series so when they do have episodes with only a few of the characters doing anything, there is still a desire to return to the whole group.
