Re: TV 5: Cliffhangers and Intros!

The fact they were going to try and continue without Michael Scott (Steve Carrell) was appauling in the first place.

Community might be in the same boat if this crap keeps up.

One problem with Community is that with the setup it really shouldnt last longer than 4 seasons anyway...assuming they continue with the each season is one school year thing. This season hasnt been too bad really. The halloween episode kind of sucked but most have been pretty good.

Re: TV 5: Cliffhangers and Intros!

Chance they cancel 'The Office' at the end of this season?

I'm going with 70%.

I'll go with like 5% Obviously it should be, but established shows are allowed to go well past the point of being worthwhile in any way. See: Scrubs.

Same goes for House. You can just about stick a fork in that show.

I didn't watch Walking Dead but apparently the second episode was a huge disappointment after the pilot. The pilot got such good ratings though that AMC already picked up a second season of the show. I'm kind of disappointed that AMC already picked that up, and yet Rubicon is still apparently hanging in the wind. I'd really love to see that come back for a second season.

Re: TV 5: Cliffhangers and Intros!

Dexter's....okay. Setting up the rest of the season. Not as strong as season so far, but it has such potential to be great, so I'm quite hopeful.

Re: TV 5: Cliffhangers and Intros!

Well the comic has been around for a while so they have lots of usable stories I would guess. Since I think zombies are lame I never read it nor will I watch the show ;)

Thanks so much for, once again, providing such valuable input on the topic at hand. ;)

Re: TV 5: Cliffhangers and Intros!

We just started watching Eureka (via Netflix) and it's awesome. Almost done with Season 1 and really enjoying it. For some reason, I'd never heard of it and we started watching the episodes on a whim.

Re: TV 5: Cliffhangers and Intros!

Thus far... the show takes place in a fictional town (Eureka) which seems to be in the Pacific Northwest. Almost everyone is a genius - scientists, mathematicians, engineers, etc. The town is under government protection and the inventions are monitored by the DOD. The main character is the new sheriff in town (not a genius), who kind of saves the day when an invention inevitably goes awry. There are a lot of "that guys" in the cast and I've grown to really like the characters after only watching 9 episodes. The first episodes center around Global Dynamics (the employer of most of the geniuses), the Sheriff, the DOD representative, the local mechanic/engineer/inventor/ballistics specialist, and the Sheriff's daughter. I don't recommend the wikipedia article for more information as it is filled with spoilers.

Re: TV 5: Cliffhangers and Intros!

Forgive my ignorance, TBA. But what's the show about?

It's a whodunnit of the action-comedy, or other way around, variety with a sci-fi twist.

An FBI agent is traveling with his daughter, either moving to a new home or just on his way through for vacation. Something happens that causes this guy to get stuck in a small town at the same time the sheriff is set to retire. Eureka is the name of that small town, secret town where scientific geniuses live. They invent things, pure and simple. While the government has its hands in certain official development projects, the residents usually create things for their own use too. Since the FBI guy doesn't understand 95% of what's going on from a technical perspective, he's completely lost and reliant upon the other geniuses there. However, he's a smart guy in his own right and has a good detective's mind and thus rounds up the posse of geniuses to set things in order again.

What, I was just saying it has been around for at least 3 years so if AMC keeps renewing there is plenty of stories to mine out. I doubt it will make it past year 2 but who knows what AMC hopes for it.

Re: TV 5: Cliffhangers and Intros!

Got the first disc of Breaking Bad from Netflix. The wife and I are hooked. Seems a lot like Weeds...but not as funny, perhaps a little darker. At least through the first three episodes.

I guarantee you will be hooked. Honestly, the best show I've seen in years, easily. By the end of season 3, your mind will be blown.

Edit: The Fly Episode (you'll know it when you see it) is one of my faves. No real point except character depth. It's been criticized, and I laugh at that. The critics really don't get the depth of that episode.

This sentence might make Breaking Bad my next show to try and start watching.

I enjoy Weeds, a lot.

Re: TV 5: Cliffhangers and Intros!

Before we end up with another Breaking Bad lovefest...

Does anyone have experience using a ROKU box? We're thinking of helping my parents switch over since the only TV they watch is sports (and you can get MLB.tv through the box) and they watch tons of movies. I've seen one in action, but am not sure how hard they are to set up (Amazon says 5 mins, but I'm skeptical).
