Re: TV 5: Cliffhangers and Intros!

Spent this past week catching up on my DVR'd episodes of Flash Forward. Thought it started strong, got a little wobbly in the middle, but finished up pretty strong also. Not sure how interesting a second season would be, because it would just retread this one, just with a new series of future visions to try to figure out.

Re: TV 5: Cliffhangers and Intros!

The new Fall TV season starts tonight with Boardwalk Empire on HBO. I am very much looking forward to it. Monday's this season are going to be killer for me Six shows!!! Thank God for my multiple TiVos! :)

What new shows is everyone looking forward to watching? For me, it's Lone Star, Hawaii Five-0, The Event, No Ordinary Family, Undercovers and I'll probably give The Whole Truth a shot.

ANd boy, The Event better live up to the hype. It's going to be on all of NBC Universal's networks (at least the pilot).

To me the Event hype sounds like Flash Forward, a worldwide conspiracy. I may wait to see if it sticks and catch it on dvd later on.

Planning on giving the Chase, Detroit 187, Whole Truth, new L&O and Blue Bloods a go. Will still probably try Body of Proof but not as excited about it since I found out Jeri Ryan is in it. If I hear good things about Hawaii Five-O I may catch the rerun on Saturday.

After a good summer season of new shows, Rizzoli and Isles, The Glades and Covert Affairs, all of which have been renewed, I don't know how many more shows I can add.

Oooh! Forgot about Blue Bloods. Gonna watch that too. The thing about those new show, but the time they get back on the air, half of the shows premiering this week will probably be cancelled.

Watching the opening credits to Boardwalk Empire. Saw that Timothy Van Patten is an Executive Producer. He's come a long way since playing Salami on The White Shadow.

Re: TV 5: Cliffhangers and Intros!

Flash Forward fell apart. I'm hoping The Event is worthwhile.

New Law and Order I plan on and The Whole Truth intrigues me. That's what I'm going with anyway.

Course looking forward to all 3 CSI's, The Good Wife, and Criminal Minds, and House.

Lotta TV I guess.

Re: TV 5: Cliffhangers and Intros!

My plan to reduce my television watching was a minor success, because I watched waaay to much TV last year. New shows I'll be checking out: Boardwalk Empire (although my HBO free trial runs out in a month, will have to see how that goes), Lone Star, The Event, Hawaii Five-O, Undercovers, and The Whole Truth. Maybe Blue Bloods too, but I'm only considering it because Magnum P.I. is in it.

Re: TV 5: Cliffhangers and Intros!

I know "The Event" will end up disappoint me, but I also know I'll end up watching it anyways. But I'm admitting it ahead of time.

me three.

not bad. good enough that i'll watch next week.

Re: TV 5: Cliffhangers and Intros!

None of the new shows intrigue me at all except MAYBE Blue Bloods. The Event I can wait on, L&O will most likely bomb and nothing will get me to watch a remake of Hawaii 5-0. How often has a remade series worked out? They try them every year and no one watches them.

I did record Boardwalk Empire to give it a shot though.

That said all my old favorites are back...House looks to be epic :D

Re: TV 5: Cliffhangers and Intros!

Was I the only one thinking the guy Jimmy was talking to by the cars looked liked Bruno Kirby? And that when they said their names Bruno was going to say, "clemenza"!?! :D

It's been getting really decent reviews and the previews I've seen look good. I bet this will get lots of viewers.

BE was good, but I did the one thing I read you shouldn't do - something else while watching. You really need to pay attention and I kinda didn't.

Re: TV 5: Cliffhangers and Intros!

Not really seen a lot that I'm interested in, but haven't been following it that closely. Have the Fall premier issue of TV Guide here, so I'll check it out and see if anything else catches my interest. Mayybe there's something on the cable channels I've missed.

I'm watching The Event. As was said, it'll probably disappoint, but who doesn't like a good Lost-type mystery? I'm taping Hawaii 5-0, just to check it out, and cause it's got Grace Park in a bikini. I will not be watching the remake of The Defenders, though.

Other than that, not much. Don't know if I wanna give Blue Bloods a shot or not, as much as I like Donnie Wahlberg the actor(Who woulda thunk, as much as I detested Donnie Wahlberg the snot-nosed rapper). He's way better an actor than his brother though.

Boardwalk Empire of course, cause it's HBO.

Re: TV 5: Cliffhangers and Intros!

I'll watch The Event, though it will be disappointing since I already figured out what "The Event" is. I will give the Big 10 credit though, coming up with an entire TV series just to cleverly announce the formation of a new NCAA hockey conference, is impressive. Even Lebron James will be impressed.

You win the thread! :D

Re: TV 5: Cliffhangers and Intros!

Definitely intrigued by Boardwalk Empire. Some things I liked:

- The gambler from Chicago having made $2M on the (rigged) 1919 World Series
- Molly Parker (from Deadwood) being the picture of Buscemi's dead wife
- 21-year-old Al Capone
- How stupid Buscemi's assistant guy is
- A guy I've known since we were five or six doing stunts

Re: TV 5: Cliffhangers and Intros!

Still nothing, but I'm wondering if it is in fact a little silly/stupid.
