TV 4 - Renewed for another thread!!!

Re: TV 4 - Renewed for another thread!!!

The last two sketches on SNL last night were great. Too bad no one probably saw them because the rest of the show was pretty awful that people probably shut their TVs off. And if anyone did watch last night - what did the folks at Burn Notice do to annoy folks at NBC? Be a better all around drama than anything on NBC? It was also odd because NBC owns USA Networks (or at least are all part of the same corporate family). I guess the Burn Notice people should feel flattered to be skewered.

I thought it was pretty good all the way though. No real bad skits, and a couple pretty good ones. There's something to be said about them having skits with actual plots and writing and relying on wacky zany characters being so wacky and zany (sorry Keenan and Kristen Wiig). As for Burn Notice, I guess it's one of those things where while it's a popular cable show, that still means a vast majority of people haven't seen it (since most watched cable show is still low in viewers compared to one of the main networks); I myself had no idea what it was about and had to look it up; plus it's just meant to be funny, like back in the 90s when they had "Where In the World is San Diego, California?".

Re: TV 4 - Renewed for another thread!!!

Is this like Undercover Girlfriend or whatever that show on Comedy Central was called a few months back?

CEOs of companies go out into the field undercover and do entry level jobs. Tonight was the COO/Pres of Waste Management. He picked up trash at a landfill, cleaned port-a-potties, did garbage truck routes, and sorted recycling/trash at a main center.

The unintentional comedy is off the charts, and according to the show, some policies were being amended and such because of stuff he saw/found out about).

Next week: Hooters. :D

MNS, a buddy, and I all agreed that even though we're sure the CEOs get paid, and get publicity on tv, it's pretty cool that these guys are doing crappy jobs/etc. I bet a lot of CEOs wouldn't bother themselves doing menial work.

EDIT: No one is getting paid to be on this show. No one: http://www.tvsquad.com/2010/01/11/undercover-boss-already-causing-controversy/

Anyone got a link to last night's season four finale of Friday Night Lights?

Sidereel and surfthechannel have let me down so far...

Love the Breakfast Club montage.

That was funny, but when Abed couldn't get references right it was hilarious!

Winger: So I guess...Balance restored?
Abed: ...movie reference...

:D

I loved it when Chang was dancing like a maniac with a bottle of Jose in his hand at a school dance!

"Do you understand 'honor', Mr. Spencer?"

"Of course I do. I have a bootleg copy of Saving Private Ryan at home."

Re: TV 4 - Renewed for another thread!!!

I thought Chang was annoying and really ruined what was a hilarious episode.

I've been disappointed that John Oliver disappeared from the show after the first few episodes. Particularly since he played a character with the same name as my boss who I'm fairly sure was not too amused when I posted Oliver's cast bio on the lab bulletin board. :p

Undercover Boss is my new favorite tv show.

Totally a guilty pleasure, for the unintentional comedy, and surprisingly, the good stuff that actually results from the show.

The Hooters backstory (unmentioned by the show) is interesting. Because of a legal battle over the founder's will, the guy is on the show to keep the company in the news while he shops it. The whole "bad manager gets his knuckles rapped" was so obviously staged it could have been done by Pravda.

All this because a trophy wife wasn't satisfied with a $20M payoff.

I also love that Hooters was started as an April Fools joke because the guys who started it never believed it would work. Nobody ever went broke underestimating the public. :p

Community is post-Office TV. It's funny for all the reasons Office no longer is.
