The same people that gave Adam Sandler like $50 million to make terrible movies?

His movies are actually one of the very few "sure things" in Hollywood... They almost always bank a modest profit over a relatively small budget. Also, Happy Madison productions are actually quite favorable work environments for all those involved, so they are sought after roles...

50 first dates was great

Also Billy Madison and Happy Gilmore. Those are helped that I was 13 and 14 at the time, but dammit, it's real to me. (We got Billy Madison from Blockbuster for my 13th birthday party. It was a sleepover that hit the night before the blizzard of 96. A couple of friends and my brother and I watched it 20 times before they were able to get home later that week. To me it will always be a great movie.)

I liked the old ones too, but in the last decade or so the previews of his movies didn’t look great. I feel like there’s at least 3 with Jennifer Aniston.

I had thought handy was referring to much more recent Sandler stuff

Not on Netflix...

I get his theater releases make money but they're is no way the crap on Netflix is making them money.

I think the last one I liked was Grown Ups. (2 sucked)

I like most though. 50 first dates is great!

Netflix paid him $250 million, I think he did ok.

I'm not worried about Sandler...he is the smart one!! I'm more mocking Netflix for their Trump level stupidity with money!

Is that Nadia?

The novelty probably makes it cute for Midwesterners.

I grew up with dozens of her. Blech.

For me, it was a much darker Groundhog Day. Also, as a queer recovering addict, I totally identify with the concept of dying and coming back over and over again.

And Natasha was brilliant in But I'm A Cheerleader.

E1 of The Man That Fell To Earth with Chiwetel Ejofor as the protagonist was good fun. It's not high art but it was a nice start.

TIL people think the Jetsons and Flintstones take place at different times.

I have always assumed they take place at the same time in the future. The Jetsons are the managerial class and the Flintstones are the working class. They have become so separated they don't even know of the existence of each other.

Yes I'm sure that's what a mainstream 1960s sitcom was going for.
