I’m currently watching the season two finale of Succession to get ready for tonigh Season three premiere and I don’t remember any of it. I probably should have watched the whole season.

“Thank you for the chicken” is such a classic moment . I saw most of season when hbo did marathon this weekend

The HBO documentary on the January 6 attack on the Capitol is a pretty good watch (Four Hours at the Capitol). A lot of interviews with people on the ground there that day, including a lot of Capitol police officers and members of Congress. Also, a ton of footage taken by "filmmakers" who honestly were pretty hard to distinguish from the insurrectionists.

Squid Game, the new Korean series on Netflix is.... something. Definitely not a series that's going to leave you feeling good at the end.

It's a perfect depiction of late-stage capitalism. It doesn't need a second season and I hope it doesn't get one. I'm surprised no one on the right has complained about its unflattering, slightly cartoony depiction of useless, morally bankrupt billionaires yet.

So I skimmed through Squid Game, hitting the fast forward button a lot. Meh. Id give it a solid B. Well executed, some poignant moments, but I really don't get the hype. If you want violence porn, go watch a Saw movie. If it's the competition among the downtrodden angle, just on Netflix the 3% is a better show, IMO.

Finally got around to watching the first 4 episodes of The Mandalorian. Already 10x than any of the last trilogy. Between Rogue One and this, the secret is not having a Solo or Skywalker, apparently.

I wouldn't put the overall violence after Ep 2 or so on the same level as an average Saw movie - more like John Wick-lite.

I enjoyed the character development enough to stick through it to the end and am glad I did. It's not high art but definitely provocative.

The violence is a plot point of the Squid Game, it's not a reason to watch the show.

I'm still processing the final episode. Up until then it's a very good show. I just don't know how I feel about it. (Please avoid spoilers for those who have not seen.)

I'd never actually seen The Connors before. Wow, is it terrible. Is this really what red hats are watching? The humor isn't funny and the drama is written at a high school level.

I know, I know, but even so. Come on, man.

There's probably quite a bit of crossover to folks watching "The Neighborhood" to convince themselves they're not racist because the lead telling equally insipid jokes is a darkie. I gave it 2 episodes and nope.

btw - now that I am back home I will miss watching FNC with my father and hearing his commentary just obliterating the total tom-fuckery that is that channel. My dad leans right but even he would love to see their HQ nuked.

My sons watched a recent animated series (something Bunch? - I think post clone wars) and they were very happy with it.

The Bad Batch. Which in itself is okay. Clearly geared toward younger viewers. Started to pick up a little near the end. I'll give season two a shot if/when it comes.
