TIL the voice actor for Chester Cheetah, the Cheetos mascot, was the actor who played Hanrahan.

I thought the skits were all pretty good but his opening monologue was not.

I disagree completely. I turned to my wife halfway through and said: "I don't understand how this guy is funny, but he is hysterical." My only complaint was he had no ending, so I think he ran over and they were gesturing to him to eject.

He is a very talented, and very different, comedian.

I also very much enjoyed his monologue. If you can find some of his stand-up not only is he hilarious, but oddly enough he's 100% clean.

CBS has finally announced the show for the slot after Colbert. It’ll be a reboot of @Midnight called After Midnight hosted by Taylor Tomlinson.

1. Happy to see Tomlinson get a hosting gig, she’s farking hilarious.

2. Glad to see @Midnight back, as long as Ron Funches has a weekly spot.

Do you think that format will hold her back at all, or just broaden the scope of her material? Her standup is largely based upon her being neurotic and a somewhat bad girlfriend because of it.

I think she’ll do well, she has plenty of videos of her doing crowd work that show her being capable of quick thinking.

Plus, because of her upbringing, she can occasionally be a bit naive in a hilarious way.

Song of the Bandits – Netflix. A 9-part Korean series which is part Kill Bill, part historical drama, part spaghetti western.

A former slave turned soldier travels to a town to atone for past sins. The town is in Manchuria, inhabited by mostly exiled Koreans, surrounded by local bandits and dominated by the iron fist rule of the Japanese army. The story itself is fictional but the backdrop and setting are historically representative of the region in the late 19[SUP]th[/SUP] century.

I’ve only watched 1 episode so far but it was quite compelling and I plan to continue.

Good for Jon Stewart:

Jon Stewart’s ‘The Problem’ Not Moving Forward at Apple Amid Creative Differences

The planned eight-episode third season of the talk show will no longer proceed.

Sources tell THR that there had been tension between Apple and Stewart ahead of the show’s third season return over topics featured on The Problem. Those same sources note that Apple approached Stewart and informed the host that both sides needed to be “aligned” regarding topics on the show. Stewart, sources say, balked at the idea of being “hamstrung” by Apple, which threatened to cancel the series. Stewart, sources say, wanted to have full creative control of the series and, after Apple threatened to cancel the series, told the tech company that he was walking away from the show rather than have his hands tied.

The decision to “unrenew” The Problem came after Apple and Stewart shifted The Problem to a weekly release for its second season after the freshman batch of episodes launched every other week in fall 2021.

Stewart signed a multiple-year pact with Apple in 2020 that included the current affairs show that became The Problem and other development projects via his Busboy Productions banner.

Yeah I posted that when it broke a few weeks ago...Apple is not happy with his stances on AI and he told them to get bent.

Does he say AI is dangerous (probably) or fraudulent (certainly)?

I believe it was both. I don't remember the specifics but since AI was a major sticking point in the WGA negotiations and why SAG is still on strike Apple wasn't going to bend and he wasn't going to back down. Good for him screw Apple!

Not TV but I couldn't think of another thread topic:

Just listened to the 1st of 5 podcast episodes from Matt and Shane's Secret Podcast in which they collaborate on discussing the history of U.S. Presidents with Louis CK. Yup Louis CK.

As of now they've stayed away (mostly) from discussing facts about each POTUS that most people with a pulse already knew, instead going a bit deeper and more obscure. And there's been quite a few tangential stories that pop up at random but related to the POTUS they're discussing at the time. I feel like I need to fact check a lot of it, but if even 85% of what they've said is mostly true then I've been blown away so far.

I'm looking forward to the remaining 4 eps.

I doubt very many female comedians are...

(although if it is not a video podcast at least he cant force them to watch him crank it)

If Sarah Silverman can put it in perspective, I'll bet you can, too. Don't go for the dumb, easy lay up; it doesn't send the signal you think it does. It's a complicated world, and throwing people away is unhelpful and not in any way caring about the victims. It's just going for the curb stomp for the hurr hurr I'm better and frankly the people who do it are often covering something themselves.

As someone over 30, I don't feel like that SNL was for me.

As somebody over 60, I thought it was great. The best of the last couple seasons. Nat Dyer with a Dick* was great. The band was stoopid but I skip 80% of the bands on SNL now. The Tiny Horse callback was incredible.

I give the episode an A-. The negatives were a meh band, the traditional garbage last skit, and an atypically weak Do Not Destroy.
