If you're a fan of the Smartless podcast (Will Arnett, Jason Batemen and Sean Hayes) a 6-part series chronicling their (I think) 2021 US tour is available on Max. It's cool how naturally funny all of them are and they have great chemistry as a trio. Fun stuff.

I'm in season 2 of Barry and they are already starting to paint themselves into corners that are stretching credibility. It feels like Ozark (which I never finished) in that I just kind of wonder how dumb are half these characters...

I like it, I laugh hysterically every episode, but it's getting to the point I can see why they ended it.

As for Succession...I like 90% of the finale. I'm not sure I like where it ended but I get it and hearing why it ended in those final scenes helped. In the end Roman was the heart of the whole story and I don't mean emotionally I mean if the series was a person Roman was the thing that kept the story alive. He was also the only honest character.

Yeah Succession ended as I had expected. A thing I was told a while ago spoils some shows if I choose to do a little digging. (Meaning I’m really spoiling it for myself)

That thing is that showrunners usually pick names deliberately.

A few questions/comments about the Succession finale:

- I laughed when Kendall shouted "New Jess!" to whoever replaced Jess
- Did they ever say where the mom's island house was?
- Aren't Kendall and Roman still on the board? Or is the thought that Mattson will kick them off? Also, they get a boatload of money from the sale, no?
- The one thing I noticed in that final boardroom scene that I haven't scene mentioned anywhere (on massage boards or recaps) was when Roman made that comment to Kendall about how his kids weren't legit cuz they were adopted. Or something. It was kinda chaotic so I wasn't 100% sure I heard that correctly. Did you guys hear that? What a horrible thing to say.

I suppose I shouldn't be surprised it ended like that but I wanted a little bit more.

The Bahamas.

The sale may include their board seats. Yes, they're rich, feel bad for them.

You heard right, one of Kendall and Rava's children is adopted and the other is Rava and a donor.

I assume that's the triple play. Honestly I wouldn't put anything into it. Succession is not the kind of show that stoops to those tricks, and it certainly would not signal its resolution in such an obvious way. It would, however, get its fans in a froth. This is like saying Roman's name is significant because Romulus killed Remus.

Most likely the Roys are out. Mattson won't risk a coup. The original deal had them out (Hence then wanting to buy the competitor or stay their own company) so likely that is still in. They are selling out. Mattson wanted to destroy the Roys (according to Skarsgard) so he won't let them stick around.

Yes Roman said that and damn was it awesome.

They make billions on the sake but they lost any influence they had. Kendall literally lost his entire purpose.

And I don't buy the name thing at all though it is interesting.

I really liked Succession and I'm sad to see it go, but I'm glad they ended it before it got bad. I also thought the ending was great.

One small annoyance however, and that was Kendall running after Shiv, out of the boardroom. The correct move there is to look at Frank and say, "6-6 is motion to sell fails. Let's move on with the agenda, shall we."
