TV 19 - Simpsons Did It

The balance has to be right, but I kind of appreciate this show not making us live through everything and just advancing the plot

Since I didn't follow the original series, I wasn't sure of the time covered. HotD on the other hand seems to be an episode around an event then the next episode where there are some blatant hints that there was a significant time jump, then that episode's events. Then repeat next week.

It's different from most other series that I have followed.

I'm not being snarky. Does anyone under the age of 70 watch the Big Three anymore?

I do. I'm committed to many shows that I don't want to give up till they're done. There are fewer and fewer new shows to take their place, though. There's only one new show that looks interesting to me - Monarch. It's on FOX. It's kindy soapy, is about country music family, intrigue and drama. Totally unrealistic but right up my alley. I'll watch the same returning shows but none with any major interest that I've had in the past. I do look forward to Abbott Elementary. I caught up on that in the spring. Entertaining and enjoyable.

Summer is a time when I focus on catching up on streaming shows. I've been watching Vikings on Hulu. It's...phenomenal. I vaguely remember it when it was on History Channel. I'm almost through season 4 and I am flabbergasted at the lack of any Emmy recognition for the show. I suppose being released during a time when Game of Thrones was out probably had something to do with it (GoT having the HBO prestige and juggernaut behind it). In the interest of full disclosure, I started watching solely because of my current obsession with Linus Roache (who plays King Ecbert) as I usually don't watch shows like this but holy moley the entire cast is outstanding.

I did a search for "best shows of 2022" and after perusing several different sources I couldn't find a single network show rated in at least the Top 10-20 unless you consider the BBC for shows already released. However a few of them said they expect Abbot Elementary (ABC) to be good fwiw.

As for some recent viewings of non-network shows I'd recommend The Patient, The Responder and The Suspect. No that is not one show. ;^)

Has anyone watched The Last Movie Stars on Max and if so do you recommend?

btw Elon Musk is trolling Bezos over the new LOTR series and his followers are chiming in to the point one respondent is upset that now too many POC are now represented as good people and "why were no Bond villains POC except one Japanese and Grace Jones?". jfc

Was glad to see Succession win over Squid Game. I thought season three was their best yet and I'm still thinking about the finale.

At some point I will check out The White Lotus. Have heard good things. Lots of talented people in it. I felt annoyed and mad the Jennifer Coolidge did not get to finish her acceptance speech. If they had only cut out one of those stupid fillers, like the opening segment of dancers dancing to EDM version of TV theme songs, maybe they could have given her another 30 seconds to talk. Although Michael Keaton droned on an on when he won.

Very excited for Sheryl Lee Ralph for her Supporting Actress in a Comedy and Quinta Brunson for her Best Writing in a Comedy Series for Abbott Elementary. And Jimmy Kimmel should be fired from ABC for ruining Quinta Brunson's moment. He better make it up to her in some way. What an ass.

Emmy producers need to stop having famous singers sing a song during the Dead People Tribute. Half the time the camera is on them and not the slides of the dead people. It's annoying.
