Already excited for BCS tonight
The Lord of the Rings thing from Amazon comes out in the fall. I just ran across the trailer and the reaction to it.
It's a cash dive, like Game of Thrones: You Know What They Say About the Crazy Ones, but eh it beats Ow My Balls.
Game of Thrones was a huge gamble. I am pretty sure based on what I have read that they only planned out to the Red Wedding. The author never finished the story so the TV show had to make it all up. I'm sure that's what the new Tolkein thing is doing is just using the framework and then making **** up. GOT at least didn't make **** up for the parts that they had source material for the most part.

I was referring to the Mad King GoT sequel.
There's a new GoT spinoff coming out. It's going to be awful for the same reason the original show turned bad at the end; they have no clue what to do without source material from GRRM to draw from.
I never read the GRRM books, but because it's a prequel, is there any part of the spinoff's story that is contained in the original books?
It is nuts that the book that was already started before season one ever aired is still not done.
that guy is a cheeseburger away from death and the story will never be finished
I think it's an interesting situation. He was involved, in some respects, with the tv series. So, now what does he do? Does he send the written material off in another direction from the series, in line with whatever story he had in mind, or does the written material instead go in the same general direction as the tv series went?

The War of Conquest, also called the Targaryen Conquest, was a major war initiated by Aegon Targaryen to conquer the continent of Westeros. Supported by his sister-wives, Rhaenys and Visenya, and their dragons, Meraxes and Vhagar, as well as his own, Balerion, Aegon successfully unified six of the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros under the invading forces of House Targaryen within two years. Only Dorne was able to successfully resist Aegon's conquest. Despite its name, the conflict was not entirely resolved on the field of battle, as some regions and houses of Westeros actively supported the Targaryen war effort, while others voluntarily surrendered to their might.
Upon the conclusion of his conquest, Aegon was crowned by the High Septon as the first King of the Andals, the Rhoynar, and the First Men, establishing the ruling Targaryen dynasty of the Seven Kingdoms for the next three centuries. Aegon's coronation date subsequently became the basis for the Westerosi calendar, with maesters tracking years from before and after Aegon's ascension to the throne.
So the creators apparently said that they’re going to do something that’s never been done on television before. I have to wonder if they’re going to show something that re contextualizes breaking bad somehow.
An archivist takes a job restoring damaged videotapes, but finds themselves getting pulled into a mystery involving the missing director and a mysterious cult that they were documenting.
Certainly running a prequel and a sequel as part of the same show is new, I have to think.
