TV 19 - Simpsons Did It

It's a cash dive, like Game of Thrones: You Know What They Say About the Crazy Ones, but eh it beats Ow My Balls.

Game of Thrones was a huge gamble. I am pretty sure based on what I have read that they only planned out to the Red Wedding. The author never finished the story so the TV show had to make it all up. I'm sure that's what the new Tolkein thing is doing is just using the framework and then making shit up. GOT at least didn't make shit up for the parts that they had source material for the most part.

I was referring to the Mad King GoT sequel.

There's a new GoT spinoff coming out. It's going to be awful for the same reason the original show turned bad at the end; they have no clue what to do without source material from GRRM to draw from.

I never read the GRRM books, but because it's a prequel, is there any part of the spinoff's story that is contained in the original books?

Apparently it is based on the books. If that's the case it might be ok cause that part of the canon is already written.

It is nuts that the book that was already started before season one ever aired is still not done.

that guy is a cheeseburger away from death and the story will never be finished

I think it's an interesting situation. He was involved, in some respects, with the tv series. So, now what does he do? Does he send the written material off in another direction from the series, in line with whatever story he had in mind, or does the written material instead go in the same general direction as the tv series went?

I can’t even recall anymore- did he tell the show runners the end? I know he told them the big secret around the identity of a certain character which was certainly huge- but doesn’t mean the endings have to be the same

The broad outlines of the Targaryen Conquest we all already know from GoT. But from the show at least we don't know the deets.

From the GoT wiki:

The War of Conquest, also called the Targaryen Conquest, was a major war initiated by Aegon Targaryen to conquer the continent of Westeros. Supported by his sister-wives, Rhaenys and Visenya, and their dragons, Meraxes and Vhagar, as well as his own, Balerion, Aegon successfully unified six of the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros under the invading forces of House Targaryen within two years. Only Dorne was able to successfully resist Aegon's conquest. Despite its name, the conflict was not entirely resolved on the field of battle, as some regions and houses of Westeros actively supported the Targaryen war effort, while others voluntarily surrendered to their might.

Upon the conclusion of his conquest, Aegon was crowned by the High Septon as the first King of the Andals, the Rhoynar, and the First Men, establishing the ruling Targaryen dynasty of the Seven Kingdoms for the next three centuries. Aegon's coronation date subsequently became the basis for the Westerosi calendar, with maesters tracking years from before and after Aegon's ascension to the throne.

In the bcs Reddit , someone asked about the funniest moment in bcs.

many named the squat cobbler episode and scene. I had to google to refresh my memory and then it came back and I couldn’t stop laughing.

Ok "Gene's One" (cause it is a full on Oceans 11 homage!) is frigging the best part of the early part of this last half season.

So the creators apparently said that they’re going to do something that’s never been done on television before. I have to wonder if they’re going to show something that re contextualizes breaking bad somehow.

Certainly running a prequel and a sequel as part of the same show is new, I have to think.

Archive 81:

An archivist takes a job restoring damaged videotapes, but finds themselves getting pulled into a mystery involving the missing director and a mysterious cult that they were documenting.

We've only watched E1 so far but it was very compelling. Creepy, suspenseful and it set-up really well. Hopefully this can be maintained.

Jimmy wakes up in a cold sweat, with Kim next to him who tries to calm him. It turns out they’re still mail room employees with continuing aspirations of becoming lawyers. Zooms out to show an autistic child in an Omaha Royals shirt holding a snow globe of Albuquerque. Flip to Negra Arroyo Lane and Skylar walks into the living room explaining it was all part of her novel she wrote to keep herself busy following the loss of her husband to cancer. Walt Jr walks in with dinner from Los Pollos Hermanos and comments there’s a weird bag of blue crystals with his chicken tenders.
