That's just fucking silly. The protesters should protest peacefully and use his performance to bring much needed press to an important issue. Instead, they just make themselves look like assholes.
 
Protesting comedians is generally dumb to start with if it's about their routine, and not something they did outside comedy.

Much more important things to be active on than his show.

People can protest what they want but if you watch Chapelle's routines there's nothing to object to. This is people who don't know his stuff reaching for anger or, more exactly, reaching to make others angry to get clicks.

Chappelle says stuff outside his routine that is protested as much as his on stage stuff. The problem is he has no empathy in the real world he is just being mean for the sake of being mean.

I say that as a person who loves Chappelle, has seen him live and thinks he is one of the greats.

The difference between say Carlin and Dave is Carlin never attacked those who could not defend themselves and cared about all people. Chappelle is just Joe Rogan with a tan. He craves controversy so in essence he won.

Marc Maron used to do a bit where he used the term "retard" until a female fan came up to him and said why that term was hurtful. (She had a disabled child) Even though the joke wasn't bad and he wasn't wrong he took her feelings into account and changed it and never looked back. Chappelle took trans people's comments as an excuse to double down which is his right but I can see why trans people would be mad about that.

Again I love Chappelle but he doesn't get to play victim here this is exactly what he wanted. First Ave should have known better a large percentage of their staff is lgbtq....

After seeing Chappelle's bit, I was upset. I'm also not surprised bigots used Chappelle's bits to ramp up online bullying of my community.

Chappelle will be fine. The asshole will claim "cancel culture" while hitting all the talk shows and podcasts and being given 37 new specials on Netflix.

note: honestly I find him less and less funny with each special and it has nothing to do with being offended. I think he sounds tired and old and sometimes you can tell he has no clue what he is saying or where he is going. When it works, his stream of consciousness is top notch...when it doesn't oh boy.

Funny, it was only like 5 years ago I got called a pedophile on this board for defending his joke about Michael Jackson.

The newest trailer for Rings of Power, based on the history of Middle Earth when the free peoples all United their strength to defeat right-wing authoritarianism, looks fantastic and gives me hope for the future of entertainment.
 
Obi Wan is one of the worst television shows I have ever seen.

The camerawork was shit. The writing was hot garbage. The acting was wildly inconsistent. And the lighting was the worst i have ever seen on television or film given the budget they had to work with. I have never, ever felt like I'm watching from inside a green dome for any shows or movies. The lighting theory was infuriating. It was a point source on faces yet diffuse in the scenery. It changed angles to match the cameras. It was bad SciFi Saturday afternoon Sharknado III garbage.

This one was so bad, they need to fire every single one of the people who worked on it. This was worse than II and Vi combined.
 
If you held out in West World this long you probably got a little payoff to your confusion last night. I was hoping for something a little more "original". Anyway, there is still some season left.
 
The Lord of the Rings thing from Amazon comes out in the fall. I just ran across the trailer and the reaction to it. With today's technology show producers can always stay faithful to the source material. Apparently that is not even close to happening here. I had such high hopes for The Hobbit cause they were going to "extend" it into as many other pieces of source material they could giving it more depth. Instead they failed.

I imagine I will watch this anyway but I will need to, as always, shut off my brain.

Original works (Star Wars Obi-Wan) or adapted works no one seems to be making what I want to see. I guess there is always Big Bang Theory reruns.
