tUMD @ UNO: On Friday, Janurary 13th UMD will disappoint 16,000 Maverick Fans

Re: tUMD @ UNO: On Friday, Janurary 13th UMD will disappoint 16,000 Maverick Fans

Caw!!! CAW!!!
KAW!! :)
St. Cloud is 50 times more fun than tDuluth and 50 NCs won't change that. And if you wanted to turn me you should have gone with the Duluth chicks Biddy rounded up in Madison :D
Its funny how that works. When you are engaged and not interested in meeting new womens they come in droves. :D
More from Coach Blais:

As I said earlier on the thread, all of a sudden the Omaha news media has rediscovered UNO hockey. Happens at this time every year. You'd think we don't play any games until after football season.
That article is less blustery than the other one. I suppose the newspaper is just covering what the most people care about at that time.

Jesus, is faceoff still 34 hrs away? Get here already! Going to be fun. GO MAVS! UNLEASH THE FURY!

I'm an argument against cheering for tUMD. And St. Cloud is not fun. Val's sucks and their fries are soggy.

I'm not saying its the best town in the world, but the campus is fun, all the bars are walking distance from where all the students live, and you went to Duluth, the town my ex girlfriend left every weekend to travel to St. Clouf cause there was nothing to do there. Duluth has a couple casinos and I still find it boring.

When the Wisconsin equivalency of your town is "Superior" to your town, something went wrong

You don't make women come in droves... I'll bet only twice a year tops :D
I'll take it! :D

That's because she didn't like the outdoors or hockey or drinking. Boo her!

That's what stinks about Duluth. Most students do not live within reasonable walking distance of bars. Although that has not stopped students from making a long hike after bar close.

Perhaps one day you will show me the fun spots and I will find Duluth an ok town to party in. Until that day, Duluth sucks more than UNO's student section.

Anybody know anything about the revolving door that is UNO's goalie rotation?

Faulkner is semi-retired so he only plays once a weekend. Needs to make time for his bridge club and ship in a bottle building, you know.

The weekend SCSU was in town he didn't play either game. Must have been a Murder, She Wrote marathon on .

Coach Blais on Faulkner's whereabouts and the goalie "situation", in general:

Under 1000 tickets left for the game tomorrow night, now.

The school has emailed around a promo to students for a pregame party (at Mojo, just off campus) at 4:00 tomorrow and are encouraging students to "Wear your craziest outfits and be seen by millions on NBC Sports". LOL. A local credit union is also giving away 2 scholarships at the game as well. They are running buses from this function to the game. Looks like the student section will be good and molared up.

The stops appear to all be getting pulled out. Biddco was right--Super Bowl.

Being from Minnesota that can't be a good thing for us.
Excellent. It is just another road game for us. We haven't had a home game since early November.

That is a lot of tickets to sell in 24 plus hours...

Well, what's wrong is that Superior is equivalent to Duluth. It's not. The only thing Superior is good for is circumventing Minnesota's blue laws.

Of course in St. Cloud, one circumvents blue laws by heading out to the still in the woods. Via snowmobile.

Down to 781 left:

I don't think it is in a metropolitan area of about 875,000. There is certain to be at least some level of walk-up, unless they sell out early enough tomorrow for people to know they did. Whatever, this will be the all time record crowd in school history.

Plus Superior has a ton of cheap bars on Tower Avenue and tAnchor Bar. Which I must get in two weeks when I visit Duluth again.

It will be close that is for certain. The will get darn close.

Re: tUMD @ UNO: On Friday, Janurary 13th UMD will disappoint 16,000 Maverick Fans

The Omaha World Herald gives UMD some props in tomorrow morning's paper:

http://www.omaha.com/article/201201...nding-champ-duluth-picks-up-where-it-left-off

What does Sandelin mean by the last line of the article? "............give us some tickets and we'd send some more of our fans down".

????

I assume he must mean UNO, because of the "sell out" promotion tomorrow night, must not have allotted as many tickets to the UMD athletic department as he would have liked or something. That sure can't be an issue for the Saturday night game. Plenty of seats for it are available. I can't believe that any UMD fan that wants tickets got jacked out of them. As I write this there are still 643 seats left (and about 350, still, on Ticketmaster).

And this from the UNO athletic department Facebook page today:

"Attention Students: Your Mav Card is good for one free ticket for all UNO Athletic events including the Sellout Duluth Hockey game this Friday 1/13/12. There are 700 seats/tickets available for each game this weekend. After the initial 700 seats are used, students will be given standing room only tickets until fire code numbers have been met for the building. So get there early and lets get loud!"

This seems to imply that there will be a big student presence and that they are anticipating having to hand out standing room only tickets. That would be a first, to say the least. There is a lot of standing room available in the Clink, too, particularly at the "bar end" of the arena.

Re: tUMD @ UNO: On Friday, Janurary 13th UMD will disappoint 16,000 Maverick Fans

I see UNO is using the MN Wild definition of sell-out: Tickets "distributed." :) Russo once said something like "I could 'distribute' some tickets in the Mississippi River."

Also, Red Cows, I'm not sure how the school allotment works, but I believe tUMD pays for them. Either that or tUMD has sold me tickets that they have received for free from the host school when I buy the left over team tickets for an away game.
