Re: tUMD @ UNO: On Friday, Janurary 13th UMD will disappoint 16,000 Maverick Fans
That is a pretty fair dig.
They show up for the "glamorous" games. They'll be out in force this Friday. The school has some sort of point system I don't know much about relative to students attending events and participation, and, this game, I believe, is the biggest get of the year as the past two "sell out" nights have been as well, I believe. I have to confess to knowing very little about it, though. It's one of the bigger problems with the program. Students are not very often a factor at our games. There aren't very often a lot of them even at our games. There are usually more girls in our student section on a given night than guys, something my wife has noticed and pointed out to me on a consistent basis. UNO's ongoing transition from a commuter school will hopefully improve that situation. I also think deleting football (and, to a much lesser extent, wrestling) at the school in the past 6 months will redirect a lot of students energies to hockey going forward since it is now the flagship athletic pursuit at the school. Winning more is also having a more positive effect there, too (thank you, Coach Blais).
UNO has students?
