tUMD @ UNO: On Friday, Janurary 13th UMD will disappoint 16,000 Maverick Fans

Also, Red Cows, I'm not sure how the school allotment works, but I believe tUMD pays for them. Either that or tUMD has sold me tickets that they have received for free from the host school when I buy the left over team tickets for an away game.

It's just you. They know who you are. The rest of us get them for free.....:p

I see that Kevin Pates, in today's Duluth News Tribune, is reporting that "over 11,000 tickets" have been sold for Saturday night's game as well. If so, that will be the first time UNO has ever drawn back to back crowds in 5 figures. Attendance for the two games will be north of 25,000, it would appear. He must have spoken to the UNO ticket office, because, while I know sales for Saturday night have been good, I hadn't heard of any actual numbers around here. You don't need to get much north of 11,000 for them to have to take at least some of the upper level curtains down.

No, it will be the first time in eleven months. 15K and 10K for Wisconsin last February.

My bad, you are correct. I missed the Saturday game for a wedding.

By the way, in the realm of knowing your opponent, right from the pages of wikipedia:

"Despite their famous "sourpuss" expression, Bulldogs are generally docile and tractable. However, they can move very quickly over short distances. Bulldogs do not need a lot of physical exercise, so they are well-suited for living in apartments and other urban environments. They are friendly and gregarious, but occasionally willful. The phrase "stubborn as a Bulldog" may derive from observing an agitated Bulldog. They rank 78th out of 80 in Stanley Coren's "The Intelligence of Dogs", holding the lowest degree of working/obedience intelligence."

Hmmmmmmm.............Interesting.

... and we eat cows, so yeah.
I ate a red Maverick last night! I had to cook it a while before it was brown and safe to eat. It was yummy. Here is to UMD feasting on some Mavericks tonight!

Careful there, I'm sure there is an element of posters that might take this the wrong way.

I see you are new blood on the Mavpuck board and popped your cherry on the "UMD Sucks" thread, which was started by the Minister of Anger. Decorum prevents me from reposting here what the "Minister" had to say in starting that thread. All I'll say is that he apparently hasn't ever been to Duluth.

<50 tickets remaining for the game. All are singles. My guess is that Trev milks it for all its worth and makes some sort of pregame announcement thanking the fans for selling out the building.

I am out the door for the arena at 5:00 P.M.

Don't worry, Biddco eats a Husky :D

I see UNO has Rick Zombo's kid on their squad. My first hockey memory is a Northstar's game in the late 80's where a group of hammered fans kept yelling "F U Zombo." I was like 6 years old and thought it was awesome. My old man hated it, probably because he couldn't join in with the kid there. :)

Doesn't sound like 16,000 fans are in the building... JT Brown is putting on a show for you UNO "fans" and you aren't even cheering, what's up with that?!

Re: tUMD @ UNO: On Friday, Janurary 13th UMD will disappoint 16,000 Maverick Fans

Like I said earlier, better have a 3 goal lead going into the 3rd if you want to have a chance. Dear NHL scouts, please come to every game. Dear JT Brown, way to earn a max contract tonight, I'll miss you.

First place Bulldogs! First place Bulldogs! Another great offensive performance. What a great system and players the past couple of years!

Nothing but compliments for Duluth. So deep, very skilled. One of the best teams I've seen in 15 years of watching the sport, certainly.

I would be tremendously excited if I were a Duluth fan. And it's a message of hope for all of us fans of D-II and former D-II schools that big time championships are within our grasp, notwithstanding the Boston Colleges and Miamis flooding their rinks with liquid cash.

There is on Twitter tonight, however, a distinct sense that Duluth has not just extended its streak to 17, but that 18 is already in the bag. And certainly, again, you have to acknowledge that UMD is a stronger team at the moment than UNO. But my hope is that a fan base like UMDs, with the legendary sense of humor of tPenalty Box and its up and down years, will maintain just a fleck of where it came from as it enjoys this well-deserved prosperity. You have an opportunity to remain more civilized and gracious in your dominance than other fan bases I can readily name.

Most importantly, as the prophet said, all glory is fleeting.

MavRick, I'm a Bulldog fan and I'm not assuming anything regarding tomorrow's game. I actually believe that it will be a close game tomorrow night and either team could come out on top. I'll be shocked if it is easy for the Bulldogs tomorrow night.

These guys take the streak very seriously. There's no way they take the game for granted. It still needs to be played, of course. But there isn't a single complacent guy on this team.
