Re: tUMD @ UMTC: Last time we played in MPLS tDome didn't have a roof!
I thought the Gophers looked drained to start the game tonight, most likely due to last weekend's trauma fighting the "horrible" ice in Chicago.

They did not look sharp at all for two periods being outshot 25-18 while giving up 3 goals in the second period letting UMD back in the game. The #1 PP in the nation was not a source of "power" tonight for the Gophers either, going 0-5. Give credit to UMD who fired in 2 PP goals to tie it in the 2nd at 3-3 to keep this game close going into the 3rd.
But redemption came in the 3rd period tonight for the Gophers, who found their stride and applied good pressure on McNeely, outshooting UMD 16-4, for a final SOG total of 34-29...the 17th game in a row the Gophers have outshot opponents. Coming into tonight, the Gophers have been missing the firepower of Kyle Rau's scoring touch around the net, who was riding a loathing 8 game scoreless streak.
But Rau would not be denied tonight and became the difference maker with the GWG off a Budish rebound in the 3rd period and then Haula sealed the game with an ENG with under a minute left, his second goal of the tilt. Credit Captain Zach Budish, who was a tenacious leader all game, playing the corners and setting up the Haula and Rau scores. Sam Warning had an amazing deke and goal, and continues to show extraordinary game hustle for 60 minutes now with 11 pts./12 games this half.
The Gophers will need to come out of the gate with more energy tomorrow night for the sweep. UMD is 2-9-3 on Saturdays.

One down...5 to go to finish strong. Go Gophers
