I'm in... (plus, with you me you get an investor and in-house counsel. :) )

I hate to say this but Bakunin and BBDL are right. The band that does the best at the restaurant is a blues cover band and they are pretty well liked by everyone here. Maybe we can talk them into making an appearance or two up north.

YAY!!!

80's cover bands also work much of the time. Simple party-type songs, etc.

Let's convince the Red Carpet to "franchise" out and let's get Block E rockin'.

For those who are unfamiliar with the RC, they have a bar-bar, a live music area (with a balcony and 2 bars), a (small) dance floor, a darts/pool table area (with a bar), another lounge-y type bar, and I think another bar-area. It's multi-level awesomeness.

Re: TRP: These Ides Have Seen A Lot Of Loves...

If you're going for mass appeal, it's tough to go wrong with a good cover band.

Hi, my name is wolverineTrumpet and I know nothing about St Paul bars and thus most of this thread is boring.

All I know is that my sophomore year of college I stayed at a hotel within walking distance of the X and the area seemed like a ghost town after 7 pm. I think we ate at Mickey's Dinner 3 times because it was the only place we could find that was open (we walked past plenty of places, but they were all closed).

Mickey's rules. Nothing wrong with eating there 3 times. :)

GAH Sweet Caroline is such an awful, overplayed song.

Perhaps, but my point still stands. A good bar guitarist - worth his weight in gold. I've never met a female one, but if she was reasonably attractive, she'd probably be worth her weight in platinum.

That's pretty much downtown St. Paul in a nutshell. Shame, too, because the neighborhoods near St. Thomas and Macalester are pretty cool.

you've got me as the bartender, Legal as "legal", Diva as the go-go dancer, Quiz and GLM as the bouncers, Brent as my co-bartender, Commie as the angry investor who will cut corners on everything, and the Techies as the drinkers.

Yeah, I can see this working out. :)

It better be named the Double Deuce.

Re: TRP: These Ides Have Seen A Lot Of Loves...

Speaking on behalf of the investors, the name could be "Not Particularly Bad" as long as the drinks are cold and there's a good atmosphere.

I refuse to work in a bar that is named after a Fooper's retardness. :D

With one game in the books, Harvard Sucks Week is going according to plan. From Bright Hockey Center in the NCAA Women's Quarterfinal: Cornell 6, Harvard 2. :D

Edit to add: make that two games. From Lynah Rink in the ECAC Men's Quarterfinal, Game 1: Cornell 5, Harvard 1. :D :D

LOL that thought did cross my mind, we'd probably have to have some sort of way to limit investor drinking. For me, it's easy, I live a bit too far away to drink up the profits. :)
No free drinks until the place is profitable.
