Top Chef Las Vegas

Re: Top Chef Las Vegas

I knew the minute those 2 chose a pasta salad they were dead ducks. Kind of like last year when that one chick made deviled eggs. They should have booted both of them.

I'm having a hard time understanding the French guy and the tall bearded guy who made the 3 bean chili. How about some captions for those 2?

Re: Top Chef Las Vegas

Dear Bravo - Please remove the stupidass real housewives ads from the screen.
Thank you.
I second that!

I want to punch that guy in the face SO BAD.

So far I'm really liking Kevin, Jennifer C, and the Voltaggio brothers. Next week should be interesting.

I'll hold his arms while you punch him.;)
Now that was an entertaining episode. We actually got to watch people cook!

Michael I.'s temper is going to cost him eventually.

The quickfire next week will be interesting. Does that mean they're going to eliminate two people next week?

Michael I is obnoxious and smarmy at best. The way he looked at Padma or Gail last night was unspoken sexual harassment. Michael V did't let him near his dish, so he had to do something. Think he planned on riding his teammate's apron ties.

Mattin and Hector are difficult to understand, you have to watch more thn once to get it. Maybe that's Bravo's plan.

Re: Top Chef Las Vegas

Finally found a place to watch online, sort of.
Thoughts on the first episode (sorry, I'm behind :( )

~Tom's facial expression is hilarious when Jen kisses him after winning the quickfire money!!

~Lot of whiskey drinkers on the show - I was surprised to see it incorporated into the dishes as well.

~I LOVE that Gail grabbed the donuts and chocolate first! I love even more that Wolfgang Puck through one across the room (and Tom's subsequent comment about that). I was surprised that there were more desserts...

~Can you actually eat chicken testicles?

~Eve's accent is pretty thick...I find it a tad annoying, but maybe I just find her annoying.

Was impressed with the dishes put forth for the most part. Looks like a pretty talented group this time around (definitely agree on the older tendency this time - though that might be because Bravo is working/casting Top Chef Juniors and this would give the shows some distance). Will resume watching episode 2 shortly (about 15 mins in).

Re: Top Chef Las Vegas

You can eat any kind of testicles.

I think I was just surprised to hear Wolfgang Puck compare the donuts (or whatever) to chicken testicles. They're not something I'm particularly familiar with (and I grew up on a farm).

I grew up on a farm and never ate testicles either. I haven't liked any organ/offal/non-meat that I've tried, so now I just stick to meat. Watch Bizarre Foods a couple times, guaranteed that you'll see Zimmern eat some type of testicle.:p

Eve had an accent?

I did think it was amusing how many people cited drinking as a vice.
Early on, I think it's going to come down to the brothers, Jennifer, and Kevin. Also, I have no problems understanding Mattin :D I hope he steps it up for no other reason than I'm a sucker for a cute guy with a great accent.

Re: Top Chef Las Vegas

Thoughts on Episode 2:
~ I can't stand that we only saw a handful of the Quickfire dishes. We didn't even see ones from people that they spent last episode focusing on (Eli, Hector, etc).

~I thought the dishes that the guys put together looked much better.

~Todd English looks like a jerk-face -- something about his facial expression...

Thoughts on Episode 3:

~Mike I. is a tool.

~Jennifer (I think) put duck fat, Crème fraîche, and butter in one sauce!!

~Kevin is totally adorable.

~Padma's outfit was, once again, totally ridiculous when they visited the base.

~I liked the bacon on a lettuce leaf - I thought that looked awesome (and was happy to see Tom really gushed for it as well).

~I'm predicting some brotherly drama as Brian looked like he was going to blow his stack when his brother did well again.

Re: Top Chef Las Vegas

Does everyone keep a supply of duck fat on hand? :D

Re: Top Chef Las Vegas

Hector gets boot number two this evening. Too bad, I found him an intriguing character but when you cook a fillet that poorly you won't last long on TC this season.

Re: Top Chef Las Vegas

I love the extra 15 minutes they've been giving this show. It makes it so much more interesting.

Sad Hector had to leave for the same reasons as GE. Michael I. continues to appear as if he's riding coattails. His contribution was the sauce, which Bryan explained to him how to do. How amazing of a sauce would MI or Jen had to have made to actually win the Elimination Challenge? There was little to no chance the sauce was beating the protein.

Next week looks fun. I wonder whose dish was so popular with Tom. :)

Re: Top Chef Las Vegas

Since it was unlikely the little ***** could go (I loved how he pushed himself forward answering questions that would have made more sense for his partner to answer and they just ignored his BS and gave the win to the partner), I wanted Ashley to go. She just irritates me. It isn't the flustered thing cause I can be guilty of that, but it's like she is one big sigh. A real eeyore. And you go in the kitchen and I forget what she said, but if you heard and didn't see, you'd assume the kitchen was wrecked when in fact she appeared to be complaining that it was cleaned and everything put away while they were talking to the judges. ****, I wish someone would come and clean my kitchen while I type here.

Oh god, you took the words right out of my mind.

It's not that I don't believe that he's talented, but this challenge all I could think was, "Seriously?!" He gave no input on the protein, had to ask how to make the sauce, and got the complete idea from Bryan.

What a joke.
