There wasn't a clearcut winner even *with* the envelope (they split 4-3 on the one bite cook-off).

You only have to win by 1 in any event.

So you think they would have edited that out entirely?

Assuming that the envelope only materialized to "break a tie", the editing of the show would be solved by including more footage of what transpired prior to the final result. I am of course purely speculating and it's very possible they were going to use the envelope bit no matter what.

This is ripe for disaster. If anyone of the old contestants that come back to assist does their own thing and not what they are expressly told to do by Mike or Richard, it will be their undoing. Wasn't a few yrs ago where Casey came back and convinced someone to do a sous vide and that basically lost the contest for that chef?

Richard wins Top Chef.

Looks like it was a very very close decision. Courses 1-2 went to Richard, 3-4 went to Mike, although there was a split decision on course 4 due to Richard tweaking the ice cream between services.

The judges stated this was the best food they've ever eaten in a finale. High praise indeed.

Read the blogs on Bravo and the vote was 3-1 for Richard. Gail favored Mike and definitely his Pepperoni Sauce.

I thought Richard deserved the win at least based upon the edit, but would not have been surprised to see him lose also based upon the same edit. That was a great season save for a few lame challenges (the snack bar comes to mind) and I hope they do away with anything similar in the future.
