THE University of MICHIGAN 2021-22

Most of us aren't "fascinated". But some are hyperventilating. While driving through AA my main goal is to get to the other side while safely avoiding badly-driven prii and volvos.

Another BS backhanded insult there M94. What is it with you? maybe you should get counseling for your anger issues. AA is a nice place to live, with nice people who are good neighbors. And Please, stick to hockey.

I'm far from angry, sir. AA isn't bad. Traffic is awful and driving skills leave things to be desired. There are some good restaurants. But there is an air of superiority for sure. I've been in plenty of college towns. And they are basically all the same.

Prior to May 1, I thought every day that went by made it more likely that he was toast. But now, I think every day that goes by makes it less likely that he's out.

Yes, it's unusual for D1 coaches not to have a contract, but it's the norm for the vast number of people.

I wonder if they are awaiting public opinion? If it is negative, he goes. If it is met with crickets, he gets a new contract. Seems like they are playing a PR game more than anything.

If it was based on public opinion he'd be gone already. I don't know why everyone is overcomplicating this. The investigation is not complete thus no new contract. They want to keep him but if the investigation reveals that is simply not an option then he's gone.

U of Michigan is just running the oldest joke known.

Q: How do you keep a bunch of jamokes in suspense?
A: They'll tell us tomorrow.

Your first sentence is silly. The only public opinion that he should be gone comes from fans of other schools jealous of Michigan. I haven't heard one Michigan hockey fan say they don't want Mel to return. It's a bad look to give a new contract to a coach under "investigation." Michigan will wait until they get the report and then give Mel his extension.

No, his point is that if there was real bad public opinion, he would have been let go when the contract let out. Just like many other points that would have made April 30 the easiest break point. That didn't happen, so some kind of negative public opinion isn't a reason for the delay.

Right i didn't even mean within the Michigan community. The public opinion from outside is that he should be gone and people can't wait to stomp on his grave. So if Manuel listened to that Mel would already be gone.

Good that you can self identify like that. You are still here, afterall. Get your hat on the way out.

Because you don't see my dog in this fight ... it is ... the 'dogs.

If (<-- if) the accusation of telling guys to lie on Covid forms at the Fargo regional are found to be true, and they went knowing they were likely "hot" due to close contact, that gave UMD a bye in the afternoon game, and UND still played the night game, and the following day was the 5OT game where UMD hadn't played the day before.

If Mel did that, he deserves what's coming.

This part really confuses me- you do realize that Michigan actually withdrew from the tournament, right? Due to COVID.

Given that you seem to think the UMD got an advantage for NOT playing, where Michigan withdrew from the tournament due to COVID- what, exactly, should they have done to prevent UMD from getting a non playing advantage? Should they have played anyway?

Even IF they did lie, they did pull out, and UMD did get a bye. Which is to say, the ACTUAL result of the accused lie was nothing, as the ACTUAL result was just as if nobody lied.

So what, specifically, is your personal beef?

If you have an actual problem with the actual outcome- then there is no position that would make you happy. Tell the truth- UMD gets a bye, lie- UMD still got a bye. What alternate world would have a difference? UMD GOT A BYE.

BTW, if this accusation had any legs, he would have been let go April 30. That was the easy button if any of this was actually serious. There would be zero legal issues at that point- no worries if the accusations were only partially right, or mostly wrong, or whatever- if you doubted what was going on- just let the contract expire, and announce a HC opening. If it were bad, why in the world would any organization hold on? It would be a total waste of time and money- the investigation could come to a clean end on April 30, as it would be moot.

Why isn't that obvious?
