Re: The rebirth of Providence College Hockey
Don't know how many of you guys are already on the email list from Coach Leaman -so I thought I'd post it.

I hope all is well. Today marks my first official email correspondence for the season.
On the ice, it was a good beginning for the team gaining 2 W’s. If you were unable to check out the highlights of the game you may go tour Friars Hockey Blog

Friday Night, the “Mission 3,000” crowd was outstanding and the team really fed off their energy. It was a good game and BU can really put you on your heels at time with their skill and powerplay. It was a great sign to see the team really turn it up after BU tied the game at 3 in the 3rd period. It would have been easy to feel sorry for ourselves, or played the remainder of the game not to lose, but we had players on their toes, winning battles and really going after the win.
Saturday was a good challenge to see how we would respond with a young team after a big win. We came out much slower and got into quite a bit of penalty trouble from not moving our feet. Fortunately Alex Beaudry was able to hold us in the game, and we were very opportunistic scoring on our chances. Once again the game came down to the 3rd period, where I feel we played our best hockey of the weekend. It was by far our most detailed hockey of the weekend and we showed some mental toughness with our ability to play our best when the game was on the line.
This weekend Minnesota- Duluth, the National Champions coming are coming to Schneider for 2 games. We will have to have our “A” game for 120 minutes. Our team focus in on improving each practice this week, particularly with the detail in our game and to eliminate poor penalties from our game. We should have some good motivation from the scores last season verse Minnesota Duluth.
On another note, for those of you that did not make the games, there are some new banners around the rink that I wanted to share. They are at out Friars Hockey Blog… with the link above. This blog is a work in progress, where we are trying to keep everyone associated with the program updated with all the up to minute information about the program. Equally important we have begun a twitter page to follow the program and get up to minute score updates.
