The rebirth of Providence College Hockey

Re: The rebirth of Providence College Hockey

Another fantastic win. I really like the looks of this team--they finally know how to score.

Re: The rebirth of Providence College Hockey

Good win tonight, but the Hockey East refs have to soften up. Seems they are calling penalties that arent even there. Too bad those two guys tonight took the flow right out of the game.

David Brown is the converted defenseman that centered the fourth line. DREW Brown was the third line wing that scored the first goal. Once again, wrong Brown.

I know. Guess you missed my wink. I piggy backed my update from the game last night on your post mentioning Dave Brown by giving the score and mentioning that Brown scored the first goal of the season. I was talking about Drew and you were talking about Dave. I was merely mentioning that a Brown scored. I shouldn't have piggy backed on your post as I created confusion. It won't happen again.

Glad I bought season tix this year. Couldn't bring myself to watch coach Army's team anymore, but this year's team is playing great, really plugging.

I also bought season tickets this year since it was such a good deal.

I am very impressed with the team this season as they are working very hard.

Re: The rebirth of Providence College Hockey

Well I am delighted with the opening weekend. I was able to see the BU game but did not see last night's win. I was impressed on Friday that the team took advantage of BU's slow start. When BU picked it up the team did not back down. When it mattered, after BU tied it up, PC renewed their attack. My thanks to the BU television network for covering Friday's game. It's good for the players and the coach to get out of the gate this way. Congratulations to the team and Mr. Leaman.

Friars are in fire! Holy shat.

Jon-Was that you celebrating PC's win over BU at the tailgating Saturday at Brown Stadium in the car with JON personalized license plates?

Re: The rebirth of Providence College Hockey

Friars pick up a another commitment for next year. Thomas Parisi plays in the EJHL for the Jr. Monarchs and is a 6'0" D-man. He's from Long Island and plays the point on the power play, so he has a good shot and can move the puck. He's gotten a lot of good buzz lately, so he's a very good pick up for next years team.

BTW, regarding Brent Norris it does seem he is no longer with Cedar Rapids in the USHL - haven't seen where he's now playing. Maybe he's back in Canada.

It's only one weekend. And it's only the first weekend of the year. And it's way, way, way to early in the season. But you have to admit it is nice to see PC get 19 points in this week's USA Today/USA Hockey poll, effectively putting the Friars at about #17.

It's only one weekend, but it sure does feel good to see my favorite team mentioned in the same space as the top teams in country.

Re: The rebirth of Providence College Hockey

Don't know how many of you guys are already on the email list from Coach Leaman -so I thought I'd post it.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I hope all is well. Today marks my first official email correspondence for the season.

On the ice, it was a good beginning for the team gaining 2 W’s. If you were unable to check out the highlights of the game you may go tour Friars Hockey Blog http://www.friars.com/blog/ or the www.hockeyeastonline.com

Friday Night, the “Mission 3,000” crowd was outstanding and the team really fed off their energy. It was a good game and BU can really put you on your heels at time with their skill and powerplay. It was a great sign to see the team really turn it up after BU tied the game at 3 in the 3rd period. It would have been easy to feel sorry for ourselves, or played the remainder of the game not to lose, but we had players on their toes, winning battles and really going after the win.

Saturday was a good challenge to see how we would respond with a young team after a big win. We came out much slower and got into quite a bit of penalty trouble from not moving our feet. Fortunately Alex Beaudry was able to hold us in the game, and we were very opportunistic scoring on our chances. Once again the game came down to the 3rd period, where I feel we played our best hockey of the weekend. It was by far our most detailed hockey of the weekend and we showed some mental toughness with our ability to play our best when the game was on the line.

This weekend Minnesota- Duluth, the National Champions coming are coming to Schneider for 2 games. We will have to have our “A” game for 120 minutes. Our team focus in on improving each practice this week, particularly with the detail in our game and to eliminate poor penalties from our game. We should have some good motivation from the scores last season verse Minnesota Duluth.

On another note, for those of you that did not make the games, there are some new banners around the rink that I wanted to share. They are at out Friars Hockey Blog… with the link above. This blog is a work in progress, where we are trying to keep everyone associated with the program updated with all the up to minute information about the program. Equally important we have begun a twitter page to follow the program and get up to minute score updates.

Nice email. It's nice to see a coach reach out to the fans again. Hey if the Freds and the Mrs. come down to a game I may go to the game.
