The PPACA Implementation Phase II - Love it or Lose it!

Re: The PPACA Implementation Phase II - Love it or Lose it!

Do you believe everything you read?

Odd time for the census bureau to change how they collect data regarding health insurance statistics, making comparisons between pre-PPACA and post-PPACA insurance markets impossible because they changed the f^cking baseline. Typically if you introduce a radically different methodology you at least run both side by side for a few years. Unbelievable, now the Census Bureau has also been politicized too. Very sad.

WASHINGTON — The Census Bureau, the authoritative source of health insurance data for more than three decades, is changing its annual survey so thoroughly that it will be difficult to measure the effects of President Obama’s health care law in the next report, due this fall, census officials said.

An internal Census Bureau document said that the new questionnaire included a “total revision to health insurance questions” and, in a test last year, produced lower estimates of the uninsured. Thus, officials said, it will be difficult to say how much of any change is attributable to the Affordable Care Act and how much to the use of a new survey instrument.

“We are expecting much lower numbers just because of the questions and how they are asked,” said Brett J. O’Hara, chief of the health statistics branch at the Census Bureau.

the data for 2013 and 2014 would not be directly comparable with the long series of data for prior years [emphases added]

10M newly insured according to Gallup!

Seeing as they were dealing with about 40M eligible, covering a quarter of them in 6 months time is pretty **** good!

With the advertising blitz they've had on taxpayers dime and the threat of fines/jail looming over you if you don't? Not sure 25% is something to be that proud of... assuming the numbers are valid of course.

Of course...because a polling outfit that had Mittens winning the election by 5% is clearly in the tank for Obama.

Somehow I knew you'd focus on that instead of addressing my actual point.

Your point doesn't seem to have any facts backing it up, so why should I play that game? Sorry if that offends you, but this isn't talk radio....

Since when do I need facts to back up my opinion? This whole thread is a game, so now all of a sudden you don't want to play?

This is a hilarious exchange. I hope I'm not the only one entertained by it.

Not likely. I'd say a small number of people actually read this thread. Wait, can I say that without citing some poll to back that up? Anyways, of those that read this thread, I'd say only about 15% are actually entertained. Oops, did it again. No website with numbers to point to, so I guess I shouldn't have posted anything. :o

Just make them up like rover and priceless did in their post on the February drop in #s from January :)

Who cares if they were inaccurate :p

Right. The Head of the Current Administration was named Liar of the Year by a left-leaning organization no less, and yet they still cite whatever comes out as believable.

You do realize I'm going to keep torturing you guys as enrollment figures continue to spike. My advice is to get that Romney guy to "unskew" the figures for you. :D

But, look in the bright side. It'll prepare you for my rants when Hillary gets elected!

Re: The PPACA Implementation Phase II - Love it or Lose it!

I'm waiting for the numbers from Hamilton County.

It would be interesting to see this logic played out to its natural conclusion--where human discourse consists of nothing but people repeating the following phrase at each other: "You previously said x, but x was not true, therefore your statement y is not true."
