I believe there is video of Kathleen Sebelius on The Daily Show last fall saying 6-7 million was the target, but I guess she doesn't count.

It was being sold to the American people back in 2009 as 30-40 million would now be impacted by the law. That's more that 6-7 million.

I don't remember the details behind the various segments of the increase in covered people, but there were 30-40 million Americans without insurance and this law was supposed to get some +90% covered.

Right, so 8M exchanges, 8M Medicare, 3M 26 and under on parents insurance = 19M in year 1. They've got 3 years to get to the full amount. Law is supposed to increase coverage to about 25M people, which is 83% of the 30M you mentioned. I don't believe 90% was ever the goal. First off they're excluding illegals by law which is 10M people and another 5M won't get Medicare expansion thanks to GOP governors.

As a completely unrelated tangent, I hate it when articles have the letters "3M" together to describe three million. It screws up my Google News feed for the company 3M.

Yes. I've gone out of my way to keep a pretty low standard of expectations in political threads. Keep working and maybe you can get up to the same level. Believe and achieve.

Not in finance. In finance, an M is shorthand for 000, so 3MM means 3,000,000. When it comes to the shorthand, nobody in the office is really particular about it being case-sensitive.
