WCHA not the toughest in the country? I spit my drink out when I saw that. Yeah, we only sent 6 teams to the tourney. Half our conference, and nearly half the field. Ok. I want what he's having.

Re: The Official "My team got screwed!" thread of the 2013 NCAA Hockey Tournament

Come on, Fishman! The BC treatment from the selection committee is outrageous. Those following Moy's bracketology the last two weeks have been laughing at his BC prediction ... because, once he goes through the entire formula and process, very careful to observe the "bracket integrity" ... he finally arrives at brackets with BC out west. Finally, he says "well...just because ....let's swap some around".

Its a joke!

There is no way that the "overall #1" deserves to face the second seed in the 5-8 band in their bracket. They should get the 8. The 6 should be in the bracket for the #3 overall. Justifying such a "swarthy swap" is just nonsense - no one is listening. We're all at some level of disgust. Most of us at a very mild level because its all not that important.

My team, Lowell, has an outrageous bracket compared to BC ... but I'm welcoming it. Getting through the wringer of Wisconsin and UNH/Denver will earn a lot more respect than BC's "special treatment" and their surviving Union and Quinnipiac. If we survive Bucky ... a very hot team ... we'll get either a matchup against UNH who swept us last year or Denver, who beats us in their barn handily even earlier then the UNH games. What do we think about BC if they beat Union and Quinnipiac, huh?

Are you serious about the "what exactly is your gripe" crap?

The PWR is the set-in-stone yardstick, and that's an unavoidable fact of D-1 life; no use in even debating that point right now... Ergo, BC got a fair seeding on paper.

The siting was pretty reasonable, too, IMO. I would prefer that attendance would not be taken into consideration at all, but at least Minnesota is not hosting at Mariucci, nor a Michigan at their version of Yost. (That's happened several times in the past.)

I've seen the Q 5-6 times this year, and while I have them behind Minnesota in terms of talent, there isn't any other team I've seen aside from the latter that has better wheels. I have them beating BC in my bracket, and probably by a two-goal margin.

(Another of my FF teams is UML, BTW, but I don't think that they have enough offense to beat Miami in the title game.)

Re: The Official "My team got screwed!" thread of the 2013 NCAA Hockey Tournament

So, using your head to head comparisons as a seeding tool, UNH should be "twisted" about Lowell being a #1 seed? UNH went 3-0-0 against them this season. PWR is about your entire season. Luckily, UNH performed well out of conference early and that's what carried them to a #2 seed. I agree, Providence should be very good next year.

Not at all, I am no complaining that we are not in it, that is not the case at all. All I am saying is that it hurts to see UNH where they are knowing how we handled them this season. I am not taking anything away from UNH, nor am I arguing the fact that we should be in it. I agree Providence shouldn't be in it, I am just saying it hurts as a fan to see the situation.

The team at he mid-point of the WCHA standings would compete for the ECAC titleand be VERY competitve in Hockey East.................take it to da bank!!!

Re: The Official "My team got screwed!" thread of the 2013 NCAA Hockey Tournament

You want bracket integrity? Here are the brackets.

Code:
[B]Manchester (UNH)	Providence (Brown)	Toledo (BGSU) Grand Rapids (Michigan)[/B]
Minnesota Quinnipiac Notre Dame Lowell
N Hampshire N Dakota Miami Boston C
Niagara Denver Union Mankato
Yale Canisius St Cloud Wisconsin

Sure you have 10 flights and Providence and Grand Rapids will be attendance wastelands, but you have bracket integrity!

I know.. some people actually think the "Easy AC" is on par with WCHA and Hockey East. I mean, it's only been 24 years since an ECAC team won the tournament..

The WCHA is such a powerful conference that North Dakota, Duluth, St Cloud, Denver, CC and UNO can't wait to escape.

You're not arguing FOR the Easy-AC, are you?

BTW.. Love the Sherman quote :)

Which would be the right thing to do. In the grand scheme of things how far does the extra attendance get anyone?

The event organizer makes more money, which means the next time around it will bid more to host.
The games won't look quite as embarrassing on TV being played in empty arenas.
More people will have a chance to see "their team" in the tournament instead of Lowell, BC, Union, Minnesota and North Dakota fans watching on TV.

Further, Minnesota's "reward" for being the #2 team in the country is to fly across the nation and play a first-round opponent from New England and then potentially play a lower-seeded host on their home ice. Lowell's "reward" for being the only team to win their conference regular season and tournament titles would be to fly to Michigan instead of driving a few miles to Manchester. You would have two WCHA rivals squaring off in Providence, Rhode Island. Yep...that makes sense.

Re: The Official "My team got screwed!" thread of the 2013 NCAA Hockey Tournament

Bracket integrity makes sense. No one watches the games that aren't already fans on TV and the UND/UM game last year in the TC wasn't greatly attended because the prices were ridiculous so please spare me the idea that attendance is being SAVED PRAISE THE LAHD HALLELUJA by these setups.

I realize that my wish is not going to happen so don't misinterpret my comments as sounding like I have any inclination it's going to change, but imho saying "fukk" integrity for a few dollars more is crap.

If no one had seen this coming I might agree with you, but there were quite a few of us who saw the writing on the wall. I would prefer bracket integrity, but there just wasn't going to be true integrity this time. The committee had to make a choice and they decided to go with "regionalization" and attendance over partial bracket integrity. Minnesota and Lowell were NOT changing places and it was never in the cards for BC and UND to switch. The only part of the bracket I misjudged was that I swapped Mankato and Union. The NCAA really wanted to try to squeeze out the most attendance and reduce flights. The NCAA is pinching pennies this year, having Denver and Bucky share a plane to Manchester.

Re: The Official "My team got screwed!" thread of the 2013 NCAA Hockey Tournament

Their OOC schedule wasn't exactly top notch (Canisius, Air Force, Vermont). And the WCHA isn't exactly the toughest conference in the country. Getting shutout by CC in the semis after having to go to OT with Bemidji in the quarters isn't a sterling resume for a #1 overall seed. Sorry, imo they just don't deserve it.

I was wrong. Minnesota definitely deserved to be the #1 overall seed.

And the team that almost won the EZAC consolation game, to boot. Maybe next year they can play an AHA team like Holy Cross or Air Force...

From Seth Appert: 6 WCHA teams that qualified for NCAAs played 35 non-conf games at home and 10 on road. thats a joke/criteria needs adjusting
