Re: The NFL Thread (cont'd)

Groupon (way to mock Tibet, *****holes)

At the time that was about the worst karma I'd ever seen. But in retrospect it is apparently raising money for a Free Tibet deal and it made the PRC angry, so, good.

Re: The NFL Thread (cont'd)

The 400 fans who didn't get to see the game last night got comped with:
free merchandise, food, beverage, $2,400, free SB46 tix

I guess the details are kind of in dispute, but I saw one story saying the seats were out because "the fire marshal didn't have time to inspect them". Maybe the story just phrased it oddly, but isn't that kind of inexcusable on the part of the fire marshal? (And Jerry Jones too of course)

Re: The NFL Thread (cont'd)

Sounds like the issue was delays in installing them because of the icy conditions in Dallas, not giving the fire marshall enough time...as for that reimbursement...SB46 tix are nice and honestly, if I was a steelers fan I'd take it and run...Packers fan, I'd keep complaining.

Re: The NFL Thread (cont'd)

I don't think the FCC would let them have a talking aborted fetus in their ads. Still, it's worth a try.

For some reason my wife and daughter object to me saying "kill your baby and I'll buy your product" whenever a baby appears in any commercial, except for that one.

Re: The NFL Thread (cont'd)

Coke ones aren't supposed to be funny or all that innovative. They have their shtick, and do it very well. The fantasy/world of warcraft/lord of the rings one wasn't the polar bears or anything, but it was the exact same sentiment.

Top 5 ads in my household:
VW Darth Vader kid
Doritos reincarnated grandpa
Pepsi Max black dude on diet
*House's spoof of the Mean Joe Greene ad
NFL's TV character ad
* if that doesn't count since it was a Fox promo, then the truck one that spoofed Lassie would probably be next. Though is it bad I can't remember which brand that was?

Worst ones:
Generic summer movie trailers
E-Trade baby (die already)
Living Social (so your targetted audience is transvestites?) / Groupon (way to mock Tibet, *****holes)
creepy Doritos dude
godaddy.com (Joan Rivers? Really?)

pretty much agree with this. the House / Mean Joe Greene spoof was hilarious.

Re: The NFL Thread (cont'd)

You just have to watch Miracle and you can see the Joe Green commercial! :p

Also, PA on KFAN just said that the Packers just won the most prestigioius trophy in sports. I didn't know that the Packers played in the NHL or that the playoffs are already over. I need to pay better attention!

Yeah, Id put a few other things ahead of the Lombardi was well. Olympic Gold, World Cup (and I hate soccer), and the Stanley Cup would all be ahead of the Lombardi in my eyes. Maybe even the World Series

Re: The NFL Thread (cont'd)

Oh, the Bridgestone one with the beaver was kinda cute I guess. The Bud one with Peter Stormare... is the point that Bud makes you gay?

OH! The Mean Joe spoof. Good on ya, Fox.

By "the most prestigious trophy in sports" do they mean the trophy itself? Or do they mean the championship? Either way I think they're wrong. (I don't know what the most prestigious championship is, probably Olympic gold just because of the breadth of its recognition, but it's clear that the Stanley Cup is the awesomest trophy.)

He may have meant the most "priapic." From a distance the trophy emblems around the stadium were unfortunate.

Re: The NFL Thread (cont'd)

If I had to prioritize which championships I'd most like my favorite teams to win, professional teams only, that is. It would be: 1. World Series, 2. Stanley Cup, 3. Lombardi Trophy. World Series ahead of the Cup because for as long as I can remember, I have been watching the Twins, they were the first team I remember cheering for. But the Cup is still the greatest trophy in all of sports, except maybe behind the McNaughton Cup. :D ;)

Re: The NFL Thread (cont'd)

If we are talking about just the trophy itself, I'd put the MacNaughton in front of the Lombardi.
