Re: The NFL Thread (cont'd)

Here's a challenge:

Excluding the following words/phrases, create your own Packers' fan posting on any of the social media sites/message boards:

WOOOOOO!!!!
Packers! (Pack!)
YES! (Yeah, yaaaaa, yay)
Eat it, MN!
Haters
GO PACK GO

Bet you can't do it. ;)

Re: The NFL Thread (cont'd)

Fact per ESPN research: Only one other game in NFL history finished 31-25. Eagles beat the Steelers in Sept. 1952.

I think people need to give up the ghost on Super Bowl commercials.

Want to know why they were cooler ten years ago? Youtube didn't exist and high speed internet wasn't everywhere, so you couldn't find funny clips of stuff whenever you felt like it 365 days a year.

What they throw out today is usually "better" or at least more original thinking than what they show the rest of the year.

Re: The NFL Thread (cont'd)

The halftime show sucking shouldn't surprise anyone--it normally does. Beyond forgetting the words, I thought Aguilera was terrible. Some decent commercials...

Pretty good game. Thought GB would win by a TD, so it went pretty much how I expected. Thank you GB for preventing the nauseating Roethlisberger/Brady debate.

I still can't figure out how they did it with so many guys missing. Amazing.

What do I win?

Re: The NFL Thread (cont'd)

Echoing what someone said around 10 pages ago now, I do think the halftime show was pretty cool in terms of production. The BEP can't sing. Shocked?

Good thing they remembered the autotuner since it did 90% of the work. Also, Usher's pant do not fit.

Dang, I knew I forgot "BrettFavre." I seriously was only using words that I saw on status updates/etc. A grasp of the English language is something that Packer fans don't have. That was my point. ;)

Like we need to say more than Go Pack Go...;)

Well, first off, car commercials are almost never funny, and Coke commercials are never funny. Commercials for summer action movies: not funny, and there were a lot of those too. (Except for laughing at Nic Cage doing a southern accent.) So that's a bunch out the window right there.

There were a couple that were worthwhile though. The Darth Vader VW one was funny, though my friends and I had all seen it before. The Doritos one where the guy licks the crumbs off the other guy's fingers probably got the biggest laughs of the night at the party I was at. The one where all the TV characters are getting ready to watch football was the only one we rewound to watch again. Other than that, there was a LOT of "meh". GoDaddy is no longer interesting. Bud's commercials all sucked. There was one Pepsi commercial where a guy got hit in the groin with a soda can, which is universally amusing.

The teleflora Faith Hill (Your rack is unreal) was the second best of them all (behind the NFL TV characters commercial). The Pepsi date commercial (I wanna sleep with her) was pretty good. The Snickers Roseanne was good, too. And the Mercedes Family commercial would have been alright except for the grotesque misuse of Janis' song.

C'mon now. I consider myself at least functionally literate.

I did hear the phrase GO PACK GO about 4,000 times since the playoffs started. It functioned much like Aloha does for the folks of the islands.

I was at a local sports bar for the UND/MN series, the same night the Pack was taking on ATL. That phrase (Go Pack Go) literally made me want to punch someone, anyone. I didn't care if it was Mother Theresa, Ghandi, or Jesus Christ Himself (although we all know he hates Wisconsin ;) ). Every first down, it was chanted. Every catch, it was chanted. Good Parise it was annoying. I'd rather listen to Kelly Pickler ramble on about world politics than hear that one more time.
