The new Super League is going down the tubes.

Re: The new Super League is going down the tubes.

It's a possibility, I think. Their current building is <2000, but if he tosses them renovation money (gotta be much less than 88 million) and tells them they can play say, 4-6 home games at HSBC for their bigger name opponents, it'd be worth looking at.
If someone like Pegula is bankrolling it, yeah, definitely worth looking at. But I find it hard to believe that they'd be considering adding hockey unless the big money backer is there waving millions of dollars in front of the university president's face.

Re: The new Super League is going down the tubes.

RIT and Air Force were both invited to this meeting, but decline. Air Force is interested though, this may be due to another wild card. This wild card being that Navy currently has an 800-seat arena that is expandable to 3000-seats where their club team plays. Say Buffalo and Navy start a team, with the AHA-4 and BGSU you'd have a nice 8 team conference. However, once again UAH would be left out in the cold.

Navy would join a league with AF but not Army?

Sorry, I should have clarified. Air Force may be interested because they could bring Army with them.

Neat, good for Air Force if it works out. It would be nice to get back to full 2-game series between all of the Front Range schools.

Re: The new Super League is going down the tubes.

This tidbit does make a nice little Mid-East conference... I wonder how far this will go exactly...

Re: The new Super League is going down the tubes.

Fore4For ...
This post is the pinnacle of your USCHO history my friend. You have well structured sentences; your points are clearly made and overall the analysis is pretty much spot on. I'm delighted that over the years you've evolved to make sense and express yourself clearly.
I'm always looking to improve my posting skills. How would you rate me?

Re: The new Super League is going down the tubes.

Sure 1-10, such as no National Championships being a "1" and 9 National Championships being a "10" :)
Since you were asking about your "posting skills" (and this response has nothing to do with my answer) then you have reached the depths of dumbassery. Come on Damien ... step up or shut up. You left yourself open to my answer (which pwnd you and was good natured fun) and you come back with that? Have you ever heard the phrase "weak sauce"?

This article mentions that Jeremy Jacobs, owner of the Boston Bruins, may be willing to fund all or part of the Bulls' hockey program.

http://www.sent-trib.com/bgsu-sports/buffalo-confirms-hockey-interest-9-25-11

“While we are flattered to have these discussions, there are several things that would need to occur both fiscally and within conference alignments for this to work for UB at this time,” Manuel said.
But one source said Jeremy Jacobs, owner of the NHL’s Boston Bruins, may be willing to fund all or part of the Bulls’ hockey program.
Jacobs’ other business, Delaware North Companies, is headquartered in Buffalo and he donated $10 million to the school in 2008.
He is a graduate of Buffalo’s school of management, holds an honorary doctorate from the school and has served on a number of leadership boards at the school.

Re: The new Super League is going down the tubes.

Please oh please tell me that they have contacted UAH. It would be tragic to loose them in all this. They would jump in this in a heart beat. Great news about University of Buffalo if it is true.

So if they added hockey that would mean 5 MAC members with hockey. (Yes counting UMASS since they will be MAC for football.) Will we soon have to fear the MAC hockey conference ;)

Re: The new Super League is going down the tubes.

Suprise, suprise. No news from ND's media day. According to Jackson the decision is coming in the "next few days".

FWIW, JJ said that independence isn't really an option.

Other fun tidbits:

-It's between HE and NCHC.
-Sticking point is TV rights (duh)
-JJ said they tried to "get everyone to slow down" but they wouldn't
-Expect a decision before the end of the week.

Re: The new Super League is going down the tubes.

C/mon Notre Dame. SCSU insiders were reporting the NCHC weeks ago. There has to be a UND hockey insider here somewhere. Or this proves that hockey at UND is really insignificant. Understandable since it is a MAJOR football school.

Re: The new Super League is going down the tubes.

I hope Notre Dame gets wind of a major TV deal at NBC/Versus and chooses the LTHC only to find that there is no TV deal because they're more interested in airing poker highlights instead :p

In the USCHO.com Preseason Poll, perhaps what is most telling is that five of the top eight teams are members of the upcoming National Collegiate Hockey Conference. Additionally, #1 Notre Dame would make six of the top eight if they join the new conference.

Gotta love them poles but what is most telling is that it isn't telling anything because it is a pole and a preseason pole at that. Will this pole be here in 2 years? Will it still be telling?
