Re: The new Super League is going down the tubes.

co14ers is supposedly a DU fan that grew up in Colorado Springs. He is just as confused as you are. Me – I’m just a townie that supports the Tigers… :)

And you aren't pleased with the NCHC? Or at least cautiously optimistic? Odd.

Or are you BH in the BHHC with pride? :)

I'm not confused, my hockey loyalties are completely clear. But I have to protect the value of that overpriced piece of DU paper, too!

Only born in Springs. Grew up a DU fan in Littleton. No confusion as to my loyalty in college hockey.

Re: The new Super League is going down the tubes.

Not mine. But I thought I'd check, since it appears the whole purpose of this thread is to prove me wrong on every point.

Sure looks the same to me - http://www.athletics.mtu.edu/

Unless Tech hasn't updated their website since circa 2005, which I suppose is possible, but unlikely.

The logo with Michigan in Gold and Tech in Black is no longer allowed. It's all gold.

Re: The new Super League is going down the tubes.

Tell that to our marketing department they are the ****y ones ;)

Well if anybody has an ftp and a free copy of photoshop I can download, I'd be happy to make the change this evening.

Any others? Mexico in the wrong place, perhaps? ;)

Re: The new Super League is going down the tubes.

Honestly, after reading his posts for the last 2 days I assumed he was a DU fan. I guess every fan base has a few hidden gems.

You still haven't explained your dislike of the NCHC. Why you subscribe to this BHHC nonsense, etc. ???

How is this in any way bad for CC?

I have been nothing but truthful.

You wouldn't trade Bemidji, Mankato, Alaska, and Tech for more games against the remaining NCHC (and Big 10) squads (plus Miami and WMU)? You would prefer the WCHA-minus-Minnesota/Wisconsin with no changes? I think you are very much in the minority in Colorado Springs.

Maybe you wouldn't have chosen to spearhead the changes, but given the choice, I think you'd do exactly what CC has done. To say anything different is just being dishonest.

That was probably your problem. It didn't take long at all for everyone to figure out that you're a genuine *******.

There you go, contributing productively to the conversation again.

If not wanting to waste two tickets a year on Michigan Tech makes me an a-hole, well, then I embrace it. I would rather watch an extra two against... well, it just so happens, against most of the schools going to the NCHC. What a coincidence.

How about taking some responsibility for your own futures, looking out for yourselves. Quit *****ing and moaning and complaining and blaming everybody else for your sad lot in life.

I would start with a marketing budget. If you can't fill an arena for a rivalry game, heads should be rolling in your athletic department. Changing the logo from yellow/black to all yellow is not the answer to filling up your arena. But I am sure that's somebody else's fault too.

EDIT: You know, you guys are shedding a lot of light on other things for me too. You know, don't you, that when the 2010 census came out, there was only one state in the U.S. that lost population? It was Michigan. Whose fault was that, I wonder? I am sure somebody else's. I wonder if the lack of vision I see from Tech fans is actually a condition of the state as a whole - being stuck on past glory, depending on outsiders for survival, unable to move toward the future with gusto.

That 'Why Western' website that WMU did was fantastic. Proactive, positive. You guys could learn a lot from them.

I've never really said it was bad for CC. There is the possibility they will become a doormat but I don't think that's going to happen.

You've been a jerk about it.

I think it will make a difference to some people but be honest with yourself. What percentage of the fans that show up at the World Arena know who Miami is? It's not going to matter to them.

You are assuming way too much here.

Maybe, but most of my jerkdom (is that a word?) has been defensive. When you're getting piled up on 10-to-1, just for having a different opinion, well, what do you expect? There is a clear sense that we (all of the NCHC schools) have done something wrong. Something unethical, unfair, etc. And I simply disagree. I think we did what's best for us, and I don't think there's anything wrong with that. That's not being a jerk. Nor were the schools who formed the NCHC 'jerks'. They don't owe the other schools anything.

I think CC fans are a more knowledgeable hockey bunch that you give them credit for. They may not know much about Miami, but most will know Miami has been decent for a while. Regardless, though, I think we're better off with 2-4 games against Miami/WMU, versus 4-8 games against the others. Lots of possibilities there. Maybe we go back an actual 2-game series against Air Force? It won't hurt the SoS all that much, and those were always popular games.

I am happy about the NCHC. That alone makes me a jerk to this crowd. No matter what else I say or do, I can't win.

Sort of like when your wife wants a divorce - it doesn't matter why, she is a jerk (or much worse) in your mind. She can try and explain, say she still want to be friends, whatever. She is a jerk, plain and simple, just for not wanting to be with you.

That's where we are here. We (the NCHC schools) filed for divorce. And they're not happy.

But like most divorcing parties, we're doing what we have to, what's best for us. But that does not mean we are jerks. We didn't beat them or anything, we just don't want to be with them anymore.

Notice that there are almost no fans from NCHC schools posting in this thread. This is the rant thread for the divorcees. The rest of us (including fellow CC fans).. well, we're the best friend, we show solidarity, whether or not we agree with the divorce. You don't call your best friend's ex-wife and try and remain friends with her. You don't tell her you wish things had worked out differently, etc... that's some Benedict Arnold stuff.

There, did I beat that metaphor to death? :) Does that make me a jerk too?

I've tried to speak positively about the future of the new WCHA, and I've been called everything from disingenuous to much worse for my effort. I've tried to shine a ray of hope, particularly on Tech's future - but I get slapped around for it. But when I say I want the ex to die, well, then I am a jerk. Like I said, I can't win. We didn't want to be with them anymore, and that is all that matters, it's all they can see.

Here, I'll try again (wrong Tech logo, I know) - Here's the new WCHA. It's a good looking, compact (expect for Alaska), competitive league. At least the Michigan schools, I think, can make something really good out of this. Sorry if thinking that way makes me a jerk -

I was rolling on the floor laughing after reading that. It think you might have some serious issues dude.

We didn't beat them or anything... Really? What do you call your posts for the last two days? That's the part I'm taking issue with. The "beating."

Don't get me wrong here. I'm not some kind of super senitive nice guy or anything. This is just a senstive issue for a lot of people and you need to recognize that. Also, I think CC fans and Tech fans will remain friends after the divorce. Even if it's just for the benefit of their children.

The fact that you don't care about any of the reasons the rest of us are upset makes you a jerk about it. The fact that every time you ask for more reasons and we give them to you, you say you don't care. That makes you a jerk. Your favorite team is lucky to have such a loyal partner in DU. A D3 team has no place among a bunch of "like minded" institutions. And yet you sit here and tell us to deal with it when in reality your favorite team is lucky as hell to be brought along for the ride because of your relationship with one of the creators (DU). The fact that you just don't give a **** that other programs might fold up shop because you don't like having to watch the leftovers in Colorado makes you a jerk. You are living in a little bubble and some day CC will be left behind and when that happens, no one will be around to help your favorite program because your favorite program and some other teams **** on the rest of the western schools back in 2011. If only the rest of the defectors had been as loyal to the leftovers as DU was to CC.

I'll sleep at night knowing that my team has more NCAA Championships than 75% of the NCHC and that it will remain that way for the foreseeable future. Also, that all of the championships in the future WCHA will have come post-1957, something that the CC can't claim.
