Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan and Ohio State will share the first round byes and use the time off to heal up for second week bouts with........each other.
How exiting will it be to face the same three teams in the post season every single year...time after time...boooooring!
Meanwhile, the WCHA tournament will be even more exciting because it will send Cinderella to the ball!
Great move Minnesota...good luck finding 19,000 fans to watch the title game when only three of the teams will have a legitimate chance of winning.
I'm looking forward to going to the front range for the NCHC tournament.
And the NCHC will add quality teams in the future...without limitations based on how high noses can be raised in the air.
A team with more national titles than the goofs is not relevant? I don't know if arrogance is a strong enough word...![]()
The best way with the current pairwise is to assume that 5 and 6 aren't likely to win at-large bids and quite possibly might drag you down and to only have a 4 team tournament to avoid your 3/4 seeds who may be on the bubble losing to 5/6.

Another fun scenario will be the first round of the projected WCHA playoffs. The best way with the current pairwise is to assume that 5 and 6 aren't likely to win at-large bids and quite possibly might drag you down and to only have a 4 team tournament to avoid your 3/4 seeds who may be on the bubble losing to 5/6.
NBC/Versus because of the ratings bonanza. duhAnother fun scenario will be the first round of the projected WCHA playoffs.
If UA gets into the WCHA, they would have to be serious contenders to host at home most seasons. Keeping in mind. Some schools might be making three trips to Alaska each season. With less that five days to purchase 25 plane tickets from Minneapolis/Detriot to Anchoarge/Fairbanks tickets might run $1,500-$2,000 each.
Who's going to pick up the tab?
The league should pick up the tab, it's their playoff format. And I would think any league would have planned ahead for this and reserved in advance, thus reducing cost.Another fun scenario will be the first round of the projected WCHA playoffs.

Didn't you hear college hockey is getting rid of the pairwise. They have decided to go the route of basketball and pick the teams behind closed doors.
Well technically the selection committee does not use the pairwise ranking system. Technically the pairwise creates a ranking based on NCAA listed criteriaYour search - college hockey eliminating pairwise - did not match any documents.

College Hockey "Not Invited Tournament?"If the WCHA, and for that matter the two new conferences, are smart they'd just do a single site league tournament with all teams invited using the format of the current WCHA tournament. It works for bouncey ball and would work great for college hockey. A big end of the year conference get together.
