Re: The new Super League is going down the tubes.

;)

Everyone please note, UAA fanboy thinks people who post here (particularly the ones who disagree with his delusions, one assumes) are stupid, except for him of course. Nice. I think it was Professor B. Bunny who said: "What a maroon." And he keeps track of my "record," too. Only slightly obsessive.
I will be happy to be finally rid of the entire DU fanbase. Your holier than thou attitude that your fanbase spews will not be missed. Is it so wrong for us to believe your school is making a stupid move? I've never seen any quality response as to why this is a good move beyond the "like-minded schools who put hockey first in their athletics", as if the rest of the schools in the WCHA don't put hockey first.

Everybody on this board is stupid in one way or another, I mean we're all posting on an internet message board. Everybody.

I wasn't in on the discussions, of course, and have posted previously that this is a leap into the unknown. I've got my fingers crossed that it'll work out for us. Maybe you're right and we're making a mistake. Only time will tell. IMO, it WAS a mistake admitting UAA to the WCHA, and it's taking the dissolution of a great conference to get UAA where it belongs, off our schedule and out of our league.

Perhaps we do have a holier than thou attitude. And perhaps it's related to our many national and conference titles. Perhaps when UAA wins a trophy for something other than "the Clean Plate Club," or selling magazine subscriptions, you'll experience the joys of being holier than thou. As to your little fan boy, he's yours, you keep him. As far as "stupid" is concerned, speak for yourself. I'm not stupid about anything. Ignorant? Of course.

My experiences with other WCHA fans are generally quite good. Michigan Tech fans, though long suffering, are probably the class of the WCHA posters. But UAA fans (I'm talking about the ones who post here only) whine about officiating more than any other group, make excuses for poor performance, are inclined to conspiracy theories to account for their stinking up the league, and in one case, accused a DU player of being a liar because he didn't quite respond to an injury the way your poster thought he should have. Naturally the boy had to be lying. Occam's Razor would indicate it's far more likely your poster just didn't know sh*t from shinola.

So make of that what you will.

Whoa whoa whoa. They're not Gophers fans. I take offense! * YOU!

Re: The new Super League is going down the tubes.

Hey, hey...to be fair BOTH fanbases spew holier-than-thou crap :p

I'm sure we'd hold our own. As would Sioux fans. But any scientific poll on the question would show the Gophers easily in the lead. 9-0, 7-3

Re: The new Super League is going down the tubes.

Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan and Ohio State will share the first round byes and use the time off to heal up for second week bouts with........each other.

How exiting will it be to face the same three teams in the post season every single year...time after time...boooooring!

Meanwhile, the WCHA tournament will be even more exciting because it will send Cinderella to the ball!

Great move Minnesota...good luck finding 19,000 fans to watch the title game when only three of the teams will have a legitimate chance of winning.

I'm looking forward to going to the front range for the NCHC tournament.

And the NCHC will add quality teams in the future...without limitations based on how high noses can be raised in the air.

Wow, it's so fun to see true feelings come out. But your league? The WCHA was Minnesota's league, never DU's. If you really ran the WCHA you would've voted Miami in and kicked the rest of us out, keeping all that history and namebrand power. Instead you ran off like a dumb teenager chasing a Hollywood dream.

Actually UAA will almost certainly never be holier than thou to anyone except UAF. You know why? Humility. Fortunes change in the sports world. You may be on top now but remember that you're team is one bad coaching change, one university regime change, or even one injury away from futility. I will always remember that, I hope one day you learn it too.

My experiences with other WCHA fans are generally quite good. Michigan Tech fans, though long suffering, are probably the class of the WCHA posters. So, out of curiousity, what experiences have had with WCHA. Obviously, by your own admission, your experiences with UAA fans involves only what you've read here, which, by the way, you have stated that anything said here not be taken seriously. So what real experiences do you have? Or are you basing fanbase reputation on USCHO postings? Yeah, it's well known we feel hard done by WCHA referees. Why? Because that's the way we feel and we have reasons to feel that way. Is that why we lose? No. We're still reeling from one really bad coaching choice and a coaching desertion, along with a University system that seeks to subjugate the school at every facet any chance it gets.
So make of that what you will.
I make it that you're idiot who bases his feelings towards a program and it's fans on a few USCHO postings discussing a single topic in a game thread and an arrogance based on a recent string of success. Good riddance to you sir. And just to you, there are a few, I will admit, in the DU fanbase I will miss.

Whoa whoa whoa. They're not Gophers fans. I take offense! * YOU!
Apologies Brent. I did not mean to offend. Yes the folks at DU are not Gopher fans, that is true. However, their attitude is holier than thou, not arrogant. Arrogance implies you know you're better than everybody. Holier than thou just thinks they're better than everybody. ;)

Good luck to OSU finishing top two in the conference because it's unlikely to happen more than once a decade if that.

As of now, the NCHC and WCHA will have an identical number of teams (six) and thus experience the same issue with their postseason repetition.
Meanwhile, the WCHA tournament will be even more exciting because it will send Cinderella to the ball!
More exciting than what, exactly? Based on this logic, the CHA tournament in years past would've been the place to be since it featured crappy teams battling for the right to be the #16 seed in the NCAA tournament.
Great move Minnesota...good luck finding 19,000 fans to watch the title game when only three of the teams will have a legitimate chance of winning.
For starters, the B1G can't draw that many fans to any of its postseason games since all of them will be held on campus sites for the first year at least. Secondly, the number of fans that show up for a title game has little to do with who has a legitimate chance of winning; it has EVERYTHING to do with who is playing and where the game is held. Let's imagine for a moment that only MN and UND had a "legitimate shot at winning" and dominated the WCHA for a decade. Do you think attendance in St. Paul would suffer for the Final Five? If you say "yes", you are completely dense.
And the NCHC will add quality teams in the future...without limitations based on how high noses can be raised in the air.
Quality teams such as who exactly? Other than Notre Dame, I can't think of any programs that would seriously consider it that would also add something to the conference that is worthwhile. Nothing against WMU, but they don't exactly have a significant history of being a strong program, nor do they have a huge fanbase.

Ohio State is a piece of poo when it comes to hockey. They will be lucky to finish ahead of Penn State... ever.

Minnesota and Michigan are the only 2 teams in the B1G that are relevant. Every once in awhile MSU or WI will jump up to the top, just like they did in their current conferences.

Re: The new Super League is going down the tubes.

Besides for having the number 1 and 2 teams getting byes in a 6 team league, there is a second logical way of conducting the playoffs. The first weekend 1 plays 6, 2 plays 5, and 3 plays 4. Then the next weekend there could be a Final 3 tourney with the highest remaining seeded team getting a bye into the final game.

Hi, this is an internet message board. Logic has no place here sir. :D

Re: The new Super League is going down the tubes.

I would be surprised to see any further developments with the NCHC until UND resolves their nickname issue. As it stands today, UND appears to be between a rock and a hard place with the August 15 deadline looming large as the target date for the NCAA to begin imposing postseason sanctions on UND sports. The dilemma is quickly approaching a high noon showdown. The NCAA has not budged on their requirement for UND to retire the nickname by Aug. 15, but the ND legislature passed a state law earlier this year that requires UND to keep the nickname. This indeed places the school in a very precarious position. If they retire the nickname they violate state law, if they don't they risk NCAA postseason sanctions and potential blacklisting by other schools and conferences in all participating NCAA sports. A POW WOW with the NCAA, ND and UND officials is set for August 12 just three days before the deadline.

In light of recent developments with the NCHC, I don't see NBC/Versus or anyone else signing on the dotted line with the NCHC without a clear resolution of the UND nickname issue. IMHO the knuckle draggers in the ND state legislature have clearly overstepped their jurisdiction in this matter. At the end of the day, the NCAA is not going to recant and the ND legislature will be left with two choices: 1) Eat crow and repeal the law or 2) Take the matter to court. If the ND Attorney General decides once again to take this to court as he did three years ago, UND becomes the real loser in more ways than one. There is little doubt that the UND athletics dept. will suffer severe damage to their budget, programs and reputation. There's a lot at stake here and unless they retire the logo, this could get ugly for the teams involved in the NCHC as well.

The best way with the current pairwise is to assume that 5 and 6 aren't likely to win at-large bids and quite possibly might drag you down and to only have a 4 team tournament to avoid your 3/4 seeds who may be on the bubble losing to 5/6.

A team with more national titles than the goofs is not relevant? I don't know if arrogance is a strong enough word...:D
