The new Super League is going down the tubes.

Re: The new Super League is going down the tubes.

IF you get Notre Dame, this whole move makes sense to the Sioux-Per League. If not, I don't really see the SPL revenue really being more than half what it would have been in the B1Gless WCHA. The playoff structure is very important in determining this. Other than Grand Forks...there isn't a location that makes sense and there will be very little interest for this tournament from Minnesotans...But we'll never know since you guys abandoned the league before we could even see what the Final Five would be like without the B1Gs

Only other place I forsee is maybe if the get the new 12,000 seat arena in Sioux Falls. http://siouxfalls.org/eventscenter

Re: The new Super League is going down the tubes.

Bettman and Ebersol's (NBC) vision is to strategically target and catalyze the growth of NHL hockey viewership in key hockey markets throughout the US. Could NBC be persuaded to adopt a vision that includes investing in the college hockey media market generated by the Super League?
Bettman and Ebersol are idiots. Ebersol lost NBC tens of millions of dollars and no longer works for them.

Are people seriously this dense to think that this new conference is going to get a major cable deal? Wake up. Aside from Denver, you have Grand Forks, Duluth, Oxford, Colorado Springs and Omaha. In other words, one media market worth anything. Schools with enrollments that are at most 1/3 the size of the Big Ten schools. The Big Ten schools are also all schools with huge followings outside their immediate metro areas. NO ONE WILL WATCH THESE GAMES.

Re: The new Super League is going down the tubes.

Too bad it be overshadowed by the US Women's Soccer team making it to the World Cup Finals.

That was a hell of a game. I got to I gave up on them with 3 minutes left in the extra session, right before the goal of the decade.

It was probably one of the most amazing moments in US National sports...time to win the last two rounds to make it count.

Is anyone taking odds on whether or not Donald is going to tyrannize us with another midnight baby fit?

If this article is accurate it sounds like they will get Notre Dame

https://www.ironmountaindailynews.c...2/Hockey-conference-realignment.html?nav=5006

"Notre Dame remains uncommitted to any conference at this time and is pressing for a smaller league that features a larger non-conference slate, according to multiple Mining Journal sources. The Irish are looking for a seven-team league with a 24-game conference schedule in order to fill the rest of their dates with meetings against fellow Bowl Championship Subdivision member Boston College and the Big Ten schools."

Re: The new Super League is going down the tubes.

Donald is a good guy. He just gets a little heated.
With Northern Michigan and Alaska [Fairbanks] seemingly about to join the WCHA, he may be pretty happy. UAA might just be the second best team in the conference.

Re: The new Super League is going down the tubes.

Yeah um ... remove the defectors from the WCHA standings last year and (not that it's anything big to hang any hats on) you can see that last season UAA was the "best of the rest".

So somewhere on the internet (i forget where) you tell me to call you since you lost my number and then you post this? So because my efforts to correct misinformation about UAA are more active, direct and effective than some ineffectual namby-pamby milquetoast boob from some other program then I'm a baby?

Got it.

TV is NOT a money maker for college hockey. Hell, the NHL can't make it work. Denver can't get fans to their rink for weekend games when the NHL team is in town. Denver's revenues are little more than the leftover teams in the WCHA. UMD took their games off local network TV and placed them on Charter. CC, Denver, WMU, ND and UNO are not teams that have the Duluth fans salivating to watch. The UNO athletic department was a financial mess. They are trying to right the ship. CC is glad to be anywhere Denver is.

Let's get real here folks. This thing is playing right into NoDak's hands. Get the Conference tourney at the Ralph, load it up with Nodak fans since CC, Denver , UNO, Miami, WMU, and ND don't travel. Negotiate 10-12 non-conference games that will load up their gate. Eliminate trips to Houghton and Anchorage. All these teams have been had by North Dakota.

It worked to perfection.

UMD- please come to your senses. Abandon the "Little WCHA" and come back to your regional bretheren. Come back to regional rivalries like Bemidji, SCSU, MTU, NMU and Mankato. Save on your budget and give your fans some road trips that are reasonable. We'll have three brand spanking new rinks once the SCSU remodel is done. Your fans aren't interested in UNO, CC, DU or WMU and Notre Dame. This would be a fine league that will compete with the "Little WCHA"
