Yeah, that's some high quality straw grasping there, dg.
It's fun watching the promotional commentary continually fail to live up to reality.

Texas and Florida are both pretty poor examples and are poster children of whats wrong with the NCAA these days. Both schools only field around 17 men's or women's varsity programs, close to the NCAA D-1 minimum (16).And OSU prides itself on being one of those schools that has every possible sport on the planet. They'd sponsor varsity Quidditch if it was NCAA sanctioned. The other schools like that are probably Texas and Florida.

In fact both Texas and Florida don't have men's soccer teams despite the fact that 1 million or more kids play soccer in each state and both have heavy Hispanic populations.
The best examples of schools that supports tons of athletics teams are Harvard, Stanford and yes Ohio State.
And you keep telling yourself that playing UMass Lowell and Northeastern gives Notre Dame any more legitimacy than if they played North Dakota and Minnesota Duluth.Keep telling yourself that. He didn't even have to bring the subject up, but he did.
And they all would like to bring in "elite" non-conference opponents. Should be interesting to see how these schools are going to pull this off.
They're not. It's a joke of epic proportions.
Details of the Notre Dame deal...

5 trips east. 5 home HE series. Every home game on TV. Wants to play 10 nonconference home games.
So to recap:
Notre Dame, Minnesota, Michigan all plan on playing to 10 non-conference home games.
Assume that Sconnie & Penn State also would like to play 10 non-conference home games.

A TWENTY game conference schedule? I don't agree that dg originally WANTED Notre Dame to give the NCHC the finger, but boy am I glad they did in the end.
The Big Ten is going with a 20 game schedule... our neighbors in the ECAC have been with a 22 game schedule for a quarter century. Scheduling will not be a problem.
I think, reading between the lines, HEA ultimately wants a 12-team 22 game schedule and interviews with Bertagna going back many years confirm this has always been the conference's desire.
Scheduling 10 non-conference home games against the elite will probably be tough if there are no return tripsThe Big Ten is going with a 20 game schedule... our neighbors in the ECAC have been with a 22 game schedule for a quarter century. Scheduling will not be a problem.
I'm looking at this as a great opportunity for North Dakota. Going to be a lot of very good programs looking for quality opponents willing to go on the road. Nothing toughens you up for the tournament like a solid schedule of games against quality opponents on the road or in neutral buildings. So to recap:

This. ND wants 8 of 10 OOC to be at home? You may get a team like Miami into a 2 for 1, but good luck getting UND and the B1G teams to go for that. There is going to be a healthy offering of non marquee games in that schedule.

I was responding to a criticism of the conference's 20 game schedule. It you want to debate the logic/ability to get 10 non-conference games at home, quote someone else.
1) I don't think this is how it will work; andAre you happy about only getting 1 series with each conference team at home every other year?

Notre Dame Press Release said:But the conference, which apparently will only require Notre Dame to make five trips East each season with five Hockey East teams visiting Notre Dame in the 11-team league, gives the Irish great options.
