#38 –RIT TIGERS

Points: 11.86886 Points
Points earned in 2015-2016: .5941 Points
Points earned in past five seasons: 2.25756 Points
Last Season Ranking: #38

The Tigers had a good season, going 18-15-6 (although strangely 5-8-2 at home and 11-6-3 on the road) and making the national tournament for the second consecutive year, where they lost to Quinnipiac. They also had a strong year in ’14-’15, winning 20 games and beat Minnesota State before losing to Omaha in the regionals. RIT won the AHA playoffs both years.

#37 –BSU BEAVERS

Points: 12.74420 Points
Points earned in 2015-2016: 0.2448 Points
Points earned in past five seasons: 0.73870 Points
Last Season Ranking: #37

The Beavers have struggled since joining the WCHA, with only one winning season in conference play. Overall they have improved each year since ’12-’13 when their record was 6-22-8. Last season was the first winning season (17-16-6) since ’09-‘10 when they put up a record of 23-10-4 and made the national tournament. They will need to continue to improve to avoid getting passed in these rankings.

#36 – VERMONT CATAMOUNTS

Points: 18.52347 Points
Points earned in 2015-2016: -0.0217 Points
Points earned in past five seasons: 2.41367 Points
Last Season Ranking: #36

The Catamounts took a step backward in ’15-’16, with a losing record (15-22-3) after a 22 win season in ’14-’15 and a 20 win season and a trip to the national tournament in ’13-’14. The coaches will have their hands full with nine incoming freshmen (for the second straight year) and eleven defensemen on the team.

#35 – OHIO STATE BUCKEYES

Points: 19.47836 Points
Points earned in 2015-2016: 0.1470 Points
Points earned in past five seasons: 2.31196 Points
Last Season Ranking: #34

The Buckeyes had a second straight losing record last season, finishing at 14-18-4 after going 14-19-3 in ’14-’15. They have only had one winning season in the last five years and the run has cost them a spot in these rankings. They will rely on a fairly young team to turn it around this season with nine sophomores and seven incoming freshmen.

HAWKS

Points earned in 2015-2016: 1.7995 Points
Points earned in past five seasons: 14.04975 Points

It has been a great run since the Riverhawks last losing season, when they went 5-25-4 in ’10-‘11. They have won 24, 28, 26, 21 and 25 games in the past five seasons, which resulted in a regular season title, 2 HEA playoff titles, 4 appearances in the national tournament and the program’s first trip to the Frozen Four.

4 appearances in the national tournament (and at least 1 win each time), not 3.

Wow, the UMass-Lowell points earned over the last 5 seasons exceed the total points for anyone ranked #37 or below!

Re: The Greatest Programs of All-Time: #1-#59

That's a heck of a gap between UVM & BSU.

Most of the teams below UVM were either in mid-major conferences for a significant period of time or bottom feeders for their conference, or new. BSU has a shot to make a bit of a jump now that they are in the WCHA. RIT will likely need to win a game in the NCAA to get a significant amount of points.

Winning the AHA tournament and beating #1 overall seed Mankato in 2015 still only got us 1.87 points. It's a huge uphill battle; there's a ton of points awarded for beating good teams in the regular season.

#33– BROWN BEARS

Points: 22.68181 Points
Points earned in 2015-2016: -0.0017 Points
Points earned in past five seasons: 4.18201 Points
Last Season Ranking: #33

Brown stayed at #33 this past season but will need to have a better season to avoid getting passed by Lowell. After the Bear’s last winning season in ’12-’13, they have three consecutive losing seasons. They will need to improve on 2.10 goals/game and 3.47 goals against/game.

#32 – NORTHEASTERN HUSKIES

Points: 29.33969 Points
Points earned in 2015-2016 1.0852 Points
Points earned in past five seasons: 4.41019 Points
Last Season Ranking: #30

The Huskies had quite a season in ’15-’16, starting the year 1-11-2 and finishing the season at 22-14-5, winning the Hockey East playoffs and losing in the regionals to the eventual national champion. They are in good shape to continue their run in the upcoming season with 8 seniors returning to the team.

#31 – ST. CLOUD STATE HUSKIES

Points: 29.46804 Points
Points earned in 2015-2016 2.4846 Points
Points earned in past five seasons: 15.80464 Points
Last Season Ranking: #32

The Huskies have had a great last four years, winning 20+ games from ’12-’13 to ’14-’15 and 31 games last season. They won the NCHC playoffs before losing in the regionals. They will be hard-pressed to continue the recent success, with several key players leaving the program for the pros and due to graduation.
