Re: The Greatest Programs of All-Time: #1 - #58

I must have missed something earlier in this thread, I didn't read the whole thing, only saw a couple of posts earlier on that topic. Don't mean to turn this into a Fire/Keep Timmay tangent.

Not to worry, Timmay's on his way out. Count onit.

Colorado College comes in at #10. The Tigers have made 19 NCAA Tournaments, including 10 trips to the Frozen Four. Their peak years were early on, winning titles in 1950 and 1957. After their title run in 1957, the Tigers went on a long stretch of poor/mediocre play. They made 1 NCAA Tournament in nearly 40 years before Don Lucia brought the Tigers back to the dance in the mid-90s. Since then, CC has been very consistent, and haven't had a losing season since Lucia took over the program in 1993. If CC can continue to make NCAAs and Frozen Fours they should be able to maintain their position, but they will need to win a title or two to move up the list. For now, CC is #10.

Dang, thought CC's longer history might push them past Maine. Struggled with that decision though. I'll have #9 wrong too.

Me, too. Well, except for struggle. After reading the NCAA results yesterday, I kind of threw them out there. oh, well.

So my fantasy top 10 all times may be a fail. It's still cool

another comment- about the up and down movement of teams...

What's going to be said for 1-3? :)

1 can't go up, too much....

I didn't struggle emotionally or anything, I just mean those two teams went back and forth in my head for a couple minutes before I decided.

Maine comes in at #9. The Black Bears have made 17 NCAA Appearances in their relatively short history at the D1 level. In that time, they have also gone to 11 Frozen Fours. Their most memorable run was in 1993 when arguably the greatest college hockey team of all-time won the National Championship. Maine also brought home the hardware in 1999 in Anaheim. The Black Bears have slipped a bit of late, not making the NCAA Tournament in 2007. They have shown signs of promise, but if they want to maintain their position, they are going to have to get back to their winning ways.

#9 Maine - 179.0149 Points
#10 Colorado College - 173.6922 Points

Were results counted for Maine's seasons in which they were caught cheating? Were they taken out? Perhaps you can put an asterisk on their logo?

Re: The Greatest Programs of All-Time: #1 - #58

Why aren't you ****ting yourself about CC being ranked higher?

Although they have 1 less title, CC has made 8 more NCAA appearances than LSSU..they have been around longer but the 8 NCAA appearance disparity versus the longer existence time is a tough case to make as there would be a lot of theoretics used to say Lake State would have been in more had they started long ago, CC wouldn't have had as much success had they started later, etc...too many intangibles involved. Plus CC has been a consistently better program year in year out over the course of their existence, opposed to the peaks and valleys of LSSU, with all things considered I'm ok with CC recieving a higher ranking....Aside from that, the MTU vs. LSSU debate is much easier to compare being that they have identical numbers of NCAA appearances and championships, not to mention more interesting to me being that we share a peninsula and are rivals...I haven't nearly the interest in the LSSU-CC debate (No offense Tigers fan) as the LSSU-MTU debate.
