The Great Badger Coaching Search of '23: Start Drinking Heavily

It was interesting (to me, anyway) that when Coach Hastings came to Mankato, he kept the 2 assistants who were already there. And they became a great team. Hoping he does the same for you guys, to provide a little stabilty to your program (and so we keep our assistants in Kato!).
I hope he brings Todd Knott with him to Wisconsin.

The question for Todd is whether he sees his future brighter at MSU leading that program, or coming with Mike to Wisconsin and hopefully helping him to succeed to a level that when it's time for Hastings to step down, Todd would be the natural successor.

For Knott, MSU is a sure thing but can they continue at the level they've been? Wisconsin could be the jackpot, albeit his time to shine may be 5-10 years away and is dependent on them having success in Madison. Maybe he never intended to stay under Hastings if Hastings stayed at MSU. Was he just waiting for an offer for a head coaching gig to be offered before he left MSU? Has anyone seen whether Knott has been named, or do they have to go through a hiring process like Wisconsin?

Ahhh, BP's voice is sweet to my ears. That Earl OT shot, from his knees, top shelf! The crowd was electric! Let's GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

I sure would like to go to welcome Monday but I can't make it.

I missed that game. Had something going on. My seat mates were texting me.

I’m going on Monday with my coworker.

Do you think Hastings would prefer a 200X85 sheet as they have in Mankato, rather than the weird 200X97 at TKC?

Mary Oochie is reducing from 100' to (I read somewhere) 90', so I hope others shrink to near NHL size at 200X85.

I am sure this is something that Hastings and Mac discussed. Plus TG was on the record saying he was advocating for a NHL sized or close to ice sheet.

That and the booster/blue line club situation I think are the only really strong things TG has to hang his hat on considering the resources WI provides its players.

I really don’t think Hastings cares that much about the rink size.

Knott declined the kato job.

Wow…That makes me think he’ll be in Madison tomorrow for the press conference.

now for all the grief I’ve given Mac Wouldn’t it be something if he’s thinking long-term as in Hastings will right the ship and beyond, then Knott will build on that success whenever Hastings retires?

I’ve got to admit Mac has surprised me twice now and things are really looking up for football and men’s hockey.

also read about a women’s hockey recruit from shattuck that chose to go to UMD after initially verbaling to UW. Her reasoning was playing time like Angelo Ricci all those years ago. Interesting.

I get the sense that Todd Knott is a lot like Steve Miller in that both could definitely be head coaches, but seem to relish their assistant/recruiting roles.

Is this positivity I am reading!? Who are you and what have you done with solovsfett??

I’m excited for the future! Hastings has not had one losing year in 25 years of head coaching.
