3 major college-to-NHL coaching moves in the last 10 years - Hakstol at NoDak (Berry then won a title), Montgomery at DU (Carle then won a title), and Quinn at BU (no title, but still the best team in Hockey East and in the tournament field again this year). There are way worse fates than losing a coach to the NHL.

I long for the day your team is back in the spotlight. Since we don't have UND, UMD, or SCSU in conference, this is our best chance at fierce rivalry games where we can watch our teams deliver body blows year to year. Against my better judgment I really hope they do you all a solid and get the right coach in there. College hockey is best when we are both good.

What's funny is that SCSU wasnt even on the radar or part of WCHA until 2008ish. Now, they are stealing recruits from the other aforementioned. It has become hyper competitive in the entire region.

They began playing in the late 80's and didnt begin being competitive until the mid 90s and won 4 in a row from 96-98....not repeated until the last 2 years. But WI basically won 3 out of 4 their entire history.

Not to quibble but Wisconsin was either 8-13-2 or 9-13-2 vs. St. Cloud from 94-99. And 94 was still a very talented Badger squad. 95 had Rafalski and max williams. Wisconsin is something like 45-37 overall.

I looked up in the record book on uwbadgers.com and used CHN because as you guys know, I like stats: 1988-2013 45-33-9, 2021-'23 0-4; total history is 45-37-9. From 94-99: 8-13-2

yep, that stretch from 94-99 was where you could clearly see the rise of SCSU and Denver’s re-emergence. Both started winning recruiting battles vs UW. Cullen and Parrish went to SCSU, Ricci, Pettinger etc to Denver.

the 1992 post championship game meltdown cost the badgers dearly in recruiting.

Fair enough. I was thinking you could surround him with top notch assistants but even then I have no idea if he is even interested.
