Re: The FIFA World Cup Thread (Spoilers Welcome)

Had that game been played in Boston vs a Boston team, the crowd would have spent the second half chanting "Beat L.A."

"Beat Argentina"?

Oh imagine the pain if the Argentines win this on Brazilian soil

Men in Blazers said something along the lines of, "Imagine the Yankees winning the World Series in Fenway Park, that is a possibility we face with Argentina."

That's about the only way this could be worse. The sight of Argentinians celebrating at the Maracana after this

True, but nothing could eclipse the pain of 1950.

Re: The FIFA World Cup Thread (Spoilers Welcome)

So Brazil isn't going to dump their yellow jerseys in embarrassment because of this game?

That PLUS they have to burn the stadium in Belo Horizonte to the ground, then burn the ashes, and cast the ashes adrift at sea.

White jerseys are out ... (see: 1950).
Yellow jerseys are out ... (see: 2014).
That leaves blue and green ... but Argentina and Uruguay use blue already. So I'm betting they switch to green.

Re: The FIFA World Cup Thread (Spoilers Welcome)

My wife jokingly (I think) suggested Brazil threw the game. I laughed about it, and explained about Neymar and Silva. She asked how the score could get so lopsided so fast and I told her about how the Brazilian defense looked as lost as Sarah Palin taking a high school equivalency exam...

... and now a day later she's got me wondering.

This is why FIFA sucks. Because it's not 100% beyond the bounds of possibility.

Except it is...there is no way Brazil throws a game in Brazil.

I guess you could say that Germany rocked Brazil like a hurricane.

(Please someone get that.)

No.

Yeah it is. No way Brazil throws a game at home.

Re: The FIFA World Cup Thread (Spoilers Welcome)

I'm surprised that no one has posted that Brazil got waxed by the Germans.....

On the Deadspin article I posted earlier, I saw someone make the comments "Semi-final Solution." I'm still shaking my head over that one.
