Re: The FIFA World Cup Thread (Spoilers Welcome)

Just now got to watch BRA-COL. The disallowed COL goal that would have tied it at 1 was interesting. There did appear to be offsides when the free kick was made, but the flag didn't go up nor the whistle blown until the end of the scramble, and at that point there was no offsides. And when they show where the sideline ref was standings when he made the call be was only a few yards off the goal line - if the whistle was made when the free kick was made he b would have been standing in a completely different spot. Also Cesar should have been given a red not a yellow.

Who's the guy in the 5-hour energy drink commercial? Assuming it's one of the players. Whoever it is has yellow teeth and braces.

Re: The FIFA World Cup Thread (Spoilers Welcome)

brazil-germany is the final as far as i'm concerned. without neymar and silva, i think germany gets it done

only surprise semifinalist will be costa rica-netherlands winner

I think it's Oribe Peralta.

I find that commercial very odd. It's in English, but it stars a Mexican player, and it looks like one of the clips show him scoring on the US in the "Where's Waldo" jerseys.

Re: The FIFA World Cup Thread (Spoilers Welcome)

I don't see the Netherlands as a surprise at all outside of their opening match.

For as terrific a player as he is, I thought De Bruyne had a terrible time with feeding teammates in just about every way today.

My predicted Germany-Argentina final is still in play.

Re: The FIFA World Cup Thread (Spoilers Welcome)

going in they would have been considered a surprise semifinalist. a lot of people didn't even have them getting out of the group

Re: The FIFA World Cup Thread (Spoilers Welcome)

had brazil winning it but now i see a germany-argentina final as well

Re: The FIFA World Cup Thread (Spoilers Welcome)

robben was phenomenal today. hope the dutch win shootout...they deserve it

Goalie gets 2 stops wow

That was a real genius coaching move. Have a special slot on the team just for a goalie in shoot-outs! I noticed the goalie coach warming up the substitute on the sidelines and giving him instructions on how the Costa Rica players like to take their PKs. Helps that he was 6'6" and really quick!

Re: The FIFA World Cup Thread (Spoilers Welcome)

So is Geiger being picked as the 4th official for a semi a good or bad sign for him getting the 3rd place game or the final?
